PROCESSING CHEM TECH I - A SHIFT

Summary:
The Processing Laboratory Technician I performs a variety of chemical and titration tests and is knowledgeable with instrumental techniques of the hazardous waste and solutions in accordance with all rules and regulation compliances. Provides chemicals and technical support to enhance plant processes, improve productivity, manage water treatment and, participate and resolve environmental issues
Reporting: This position will report to the processing supervisor.
Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Performing a variety of tests (chemistry / titration, pH, conductivity, etc) on solutions and hazardous waste (waste water).
• Performs a variety of chemical tests according to specifications, and/or special instructions.
• Maintaining traceability for the tanks’ chemistry check and other physical properties (pH, conductivity) for each tank in processing department and hazardous waste
• Responsible for maintaining accurate logs, records, prepare and present summary data.
• Able to prioritize duties and responsibilities to meet the chemistry check schedules.
• Verify and follow the periodic tank maintenance schedules and chemistry verification / validation according with current work instructions and titration schedules.
• Responsible for tank chemistry adjustment proposals with little or no supervision.
• Organize and maintain accurate logs, records, including raw material (chemicals) certifications in the titration laboratory.
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
• Overall works under general supervision with a certain degree of creativity and latitude as required by position and responsibility.
• Under direct supervision, conducts routine chemical and physical analyses by running tests required for Research Development and/or Quality Control.
• Assists technical support personnel in providing results to internal/external customers.
• Able to communicate clear and concise results to supervisor and team members.
• Adheres to all company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
• Able to sample the production tanks for chemistry analysis and maintain traceability of each sampling.
• Responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures.
• Responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements and safe operating procedures at all times.
• Required to bring any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately.
• Required to continually seek opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results.
• Responsible for suggesting and implementing waste elimination initiatives specifically related to the function and department such as recycling opportunities and elimination of paper waste.
• Handles special projects, as assigned.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education and/or Experience

Some college education or High School or Equivalent; equivalent combination of education and work experience is acceptable; will provide training
• Working experience of processing manufacturing procedures.
• A minimum of 1 year industrial experience in related area.

Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimal. Ability to perform basic mathematic problems.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract concrete variables.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Access and be able to understand and use digital laboratory and processing equipments.
