We’re looking for a visionary, tech-forward Head of Financial Systems experienced in scaling systems for high-growth companies, with expertise in internal controls, advanced business intelligence, and global process harmonization. . This role sits at the intersection of finance, systems, data, and automation — driving the strategy, architecture, and execution of our financial systems landscape.

You’ll partner closely with Finance, Engineering, Product, and Data teams to ensure our tools, data, and workflows scale efficiently, securely, and intelligently. From ERP optimisation to AI-powered automation, you’ll be responsible for building a modern, scalable ecosystem that enables accurate reporting, faster close cycles, and strategic insights.

As we continue to scale across 16+ countries, we’re building a world-class finance function - and at the heart of that is a forward-thinking financial systems strategy.

This role will be instrumental in ensuring that our finance systems meet best-in-class internal controls, regulatory compliance, and reporting capabilities. 

What you'll do

  • Lead Financial Systems Strategy: Define and execute a forward-looking finance systems roadmap that supports Kraken’s global operations. Ensure roadmap explicitly addresses internal control requirements, audit readiness, and accelerated close timelines. Drive adoption of automation, AI, and predictive analytics to future-proof finance capabilities.
  • Architect & Optimise Financial Infrastructure: Own the architecture and configuration of core financial applications, ensuring robust data integration, integrity, and governance. Drive seamless integration across Kraken’s current and future platforms. 
  • Drive Automation & Process Improvement: Identify and implement intelligent automation opportunities to streamline accounting processes, reduce manual effort, and improve data accuracy and audibility.
  • Advance Business Intelligence & Reporting: Build a best-in-class, globally consistent reporting infrastructure capable of delivering real-time insights across all entities, replacing. Deliver proactive, real-time financial insights through dashboards and analytics, enabling smarter decision-making across the business.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Act as a strategic partner to Finance, Product, Engineering, and Data stakeholders - translating financial needs into scalable technology solutions. Anticipate business changes and system impacts. Work closely with international entities to ensure system scalability supports varied regulator environments and operational needs. 
  • Build & Lead a High-Performing Team: Grow and inspire a global team of finance systems professionals. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • What we're looking for

  • 15+ years in financial systems leadership, ideally spanning   high-growth SaaS businesses, global operations or publicly traded technology companies. Demonstrated success implementing and scaling ERP systems like NetSuite.
  • Deep understanding of accounting workflows, financial reporting, and internal controls (SOX experience a plus). Strong knowledge of data architecture, system integrations, and cloud-based platforms. Experience in AWS, Databricks, and integration with enterprise business intelligence (BI) platforms. 
  • Practical experience evaluating and integrating emerging technologies including AI, machine learning, and intelligent automation — into finance operations. Experience replacing legacy Finance and BI systems with scalable, best-in-class platforms. 
  • Proven ability to lead global teams, manage complex programs, and engage senior stakeholders with credibility and clarity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field; Master’s degree preferred. CPA or similar qualifications are a plus.
