Helsing is a defence AI company. Our mission is to protect our democracies. We aim to achieve technological leadership, so that open societies can continue to make sovereign decisions and control their ethical standards.
As democracies, we believe we have a special responsibility to be thoughtful about the development and deployment of powerful technologies like AI. We take this responsibility seriously.
We are an ambitious and committed team of engineers, AI specialists and customer-facing programme managers. We are looking for mission-driven people to join our European teams – and apply their skills to solve the most complex and impactful problems. We embrace an open and transparent culture that welcomes healthy debates on the use of technology in defence, its benefits, and its ethical implications.
We are seeking an exceptional Strategy & Operations Lead to join our People team. This is a pivotal role for a highly analytical, data-driven strategist. You will dissect complex organisational questions, unearth critical insights from data, and design scalable solutions that relate to our most important strategic asset: our people. If you thrive on translating data into decisive action and optimising processes in a high-stakes, fast-paced environment, this is the right opportunity for you. This role offers a unique trajectory: either to becoming a Strategy & Operations leader within the company (outside of the People function), or step into a key leadership position within our People function.
Design and develop comprehensive People analytics dashboards and reports, providing actionable insights into key HR metrics such as headcount, attrition, diversity, talent acquisition, and employee engagement.
Conduct in-depth quantitative and qualitative analysis of People data to identify trends, diagnose root causes of challenges, and forecast future workforce needs and opportunities.
Partner closely with colleagues in the People team and rest of the business to understand their strategic challenges, translate these into analytical questions and deliver data-driven recommendations.
Lead or contribute to strategic People projects, leveraging data to inform organisational design, talent management, compensation, and other critical people initiatives.
Research and benchmark external best practices and emerging trends in People analytics, ensuring Helsing remains at the forefront of data-driven HR.
Ensure data integrity and consistency across all People systems, optimising data collection processes and advocating for a data-driven culture throughout the organisation.
Develop and deliver compelling data visualisations and presentations, effectively communicating complex analytical findings to diverse audiences, from C-suite to individual contributors.
Possess 5+ years of dedicated experience in a data-centric role (including, but not limited to, People Analytics) within a fast-paced organisation
Have proven expertise in statistical analysis, data modelling, and developing robust analytical frameworks for people-related challenges.
Are highly proficient in data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Google Looker Studio) and capable of building dynamic and insightful dashboards.
Can demonstrate a strong ability to translate complex data findings into clear, concise, and actionable business recommendations to key stakeholders from a range of professional backgrounds.
Are a strategic thinker with a keen understanding of People processes and how data can be leveraged to improve the employee lifecycle and drive business outcomes.
Possess exceptional attention to detail, a strong analytical mindset, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Are a collaborative team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and are comfortable working with diverse groups.
A natural curiosity and a continuous-learning mindset.
Note: We operate in an industry where women, as well as other minority groups, are systematically under-represented. We encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet all the listed qualifications; ability and impact cannot be summarised in a few bullet points.
Proficiency in programming languages commonly used for data analysis (e.g., SQL, Python, R).
Experience with specific HRIS analytics modules (e.g., HiBob).
Experience with predictive analytics or machine learning applied to HR data.
A background in a consultancy, tech scale-up, or the defence/security sector.
Experience with workforce planning and forecasting methodologies.
A relevant academic background (e.g., statistics, data science, Organisational Psychology, Human Resources).
Helsing’s work is important. You’ll be directly contributing to the protection of democratic countries while balancing both ethical and geopolitical concerns
The work is unique. We operate in a domain that has highly unusual technical requirements and constraints, and where robustness, safety, and ethical considerations are vital. You will face unique Engineering and AI challenges that make a meaningful impact in the world
Our work frequently takes us right up to the state of the art in technical innovation, be it reinforcement learning, distributed systems, generative AI, or deployment infrastructure. The defence industry is entering the most exciting phase of the technological development curve. Advances in our field of world are not incremental: Helsing is part of, and often leading, historic leaps forward
In our domain, success is a matter of order-of-magnitude improvements and novel capabilities. This means we take bets, aim high, and focus on big opportunities. Despite being a relatively young company, Helsing has already been selected for multiple significant government contracts
We actively encourage healthy, proactive, and diverse debate internally about what we do and how we choose to do it. Teams and individual engineers are trusted (and encouraged) to practise responsible autonomy and critical thinking, and to focus on outcomes, not conformity. At Helsing you will have a say in how we (and you!) work, the opportunity to engage on what does and doesn’t work, and to take ownership of aspects of our culture that you care deeply about
A focus on outcomes, not time-tracking
Competitive compensation and stock options
Relocation support
Social and education allowances
Regular company events and all-hands to bring together employees as one team across Europe
