AXA Climate’s Public Sector team is looking for an intern who will support in modeling climate hazards over multiple geographical locations, designing parametric insurance solutions for weather-related events, performing value for money analyses for climate risk financing tools and other technical analysis for public sector clients. These include the World Bank and other development banks, international institutions, NGOs and governments.
Led by the Public Sector Senior Technical Underwriter, the intern will:
Contribute actively to scientific and technical developments:
Develop statistical models for risk and vulnerability valuation.
Explore and test other sources of meteorologic or vulnerability data : radar, satellite, new data providers, etc.
Identify key issues surrounding high frequency weather events and propose solutions
Explain technical concepts and share modeling approaches with team.
Support the underwriting of parametric products for clients (mainly for drought, flood and natural catastrophes):
Data collection from public source and partner data providers
Develop risk models adapted to the targeted perils and populations.
Prepare technical elements for meetings with stakeholders and clients.
Support the development of new products and tools enabling to share our risk views.
Consider and compare different risk hedging tools (beyond insurance product design)
Education:
Background:
Studies in Data Science, Statistic and Applied Mathematics, or Applied Physics.
Knowledges in meteorology, atmospheric dynamics, and/or weather analysis will be an advantage.
