Job Description:

We are looking to recruit a Human Factors airworthiness engineer on cockpit systems and operations, to join the Certification Technical Directorate (CTD) in Toulouse. This team provides certification expertise across all Airbus commercial aircraft programmes.

In this position, we would like to develop our Human Factors certification specialist and future expert.

Perceived as purely regulatory by some, certification in fact provides a complete overview of the aircraft development process, from the initial project application to the continued airworthiness of the in-service fleet. To know the regulations and demonstrations of compliance is to know the product itself. Interfacing with the authorities and the many actors contributing to the certification process, provides the airworthiness engineer with a rich experience and the opportunity to enhance aviation safety. He / she must reconcile two significant challenges: enhancing aviation safety, whilst ensuring the timely certification of our products.

Are you keen to develop both your technical skills and interpersonal skills by interacting with airworthiness authorities? Are you willing to take a new role combining autonomy and teamwork (yes it is possible !). Join us to be part of this great adventure !

Your responsibilities will include:

  • leading the certification activities in the above technical fields;

  • identifying and interpreting the applicable airworthiness requirements;

  • negotiating the acceptable means of compliance;

  • defining and communicating Airbus policies wrt human factors certification;

  • interfacing with the various Airbus internal stakeholders including the Design Office, Program and Chief Engineering teams;

  • managing the relationship with the airworthiness authorities;

  • supporting type certificate validation exercises with foreign authorities (such as the FAA);

  • supporting or representing Airbus directly in rulemaking and standardisation activities.

You have the following skills and interests:

  • A strong interest and at least 5 years of experience in cockpit/systems design or human factors assessment,

  • A strong interest in aircraft certification,

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to integrate a team which values respect, integrity, and teamwork,

  • A willingness to engage in new technical activities,

  • The ability to work transnationally and across organizational boundaries,

  • The confidence to represent Airbus in front of our main Airworthiness Authorities (EASA),

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, including a high level of proficiency in English.

Your working environment:

  • Global capital of aeronautics and European capital for space research, Toulouse is a dynamic city in the southwest of France served by an international airport. Ideally located between the Mediterranean sea and the Atlantic ocean and close to the Pyrenees mountains, it offers plenty of options for outdoor activities!

How we care for you:

  • Financial rewards: Attractive salary, agreements on success and profit sharing schemes, employee savings plan abounded by Airbus and employee stock purchase plan on a voluntary basis.

  • Work / Life Balance:  Extra days-off for special occasions, holiday transfer option, a Staff council offering many social, cultural and sport activities and other services.

  • Wellbeing / Health: Complementary health insurance coverage (disability, invalidity, death). Depending on the site: health services center, concierge services, gym, carpooling application.

  • Individual development: Great upskilling opportunities and development prospects  with unlimited access to +10.000 e-learning courses to develop your employability, certifications, expert career path, accelerated development programmes, national and international mobility.

Salary range based on the required profile:

  • 55 000 to 65 000 € B/year (including a variable part based on your performance). "Information provided as an indication."
