Job description

We are actively looking to recruit a (Associate) Director, Program Management for the cardiovascular program to join a newly created Program and Portfolio Management team. This is a leadership role accountable for ensuring that cross-functional teams achieve key strategic objectives and deliver development, clinical, regulatory and commercial milestones of one of our highest priority development-stage projects. Responsibilities will include hands-on project and timeline management, preparation of project review meetings, regular reporting, decision tracking, scenario planning, financial/budget management activities, and proactive risk management and mitigation.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Planning, Monitoring and Delivery

  • Ensure that overall team deliverables, budgets, schedules, and performance standards are realistically set and aligned with project lead and team members
  • Accountable for the development, maintenance and accuracy of all project management deliverables associated with the program such as dashboards/status updates, budget trackers, Gannt charts, risk logs, action trackers and RACI matrix
  • Manage risks including risk assessment and mitigation planning
  • Engage with management to address barriers or challenges facing team and escalate issues where required
  • Ensure the Medical device design history file (DHF) is comprehensive and developed in accordance with our quality processes

Team Leadership

  • Create a shared sense of purpose, inspire and energize others
  • Coach project teams towards successful issue resolution and decision making and focuses the team on the right activities at the right time
  • Serve as a leader and key point of contact to drive efficient operation of the project team including overall plans, priorities, budget and risk management
  • Identify synergies that cut across programs and opportunities for driving portfolio-level efficiencies at TISSIUM

Project management standards

  • Help build the project management office at TISSIUM, defining the values, standards, and operating model
  • Develop, collaboratively with peer PMs, the project management tools and methods to be applied at TISSIUM, identifying the right balance between Waterfall and Agile methodologies
  • Drive the roll-out and champion the effective use of a new program management tool across the organisation
  • Serve as a role model for cross-functional collaboration and effective conflict resolution.
  • Use business knowledge to drive cross-project learning, champion and embed better ways of working across TISSIUM, helping to establish company best practices

Preferred experience

Qualifications and Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline required; Advanced degree (PhD, MBA, MD, MS) preferred
  • 5+ years of project management experience within a the life science technical industry (engineering, pharma/Medtech, technology etcMedTech preferred but Pharma/Biotech considered) with a successful track record of delivering projects within agreed time, quality and cost
  • Strong expertise in taking a product through first industrialisation and commercialisation
  • Demonstrated success both, leading and managing, in a cross-functional matrix team; excellent project management, communication, and organizational skills, along with problem solving, conflict resolution and team building skills.
  • Proven financial, budget and resource planning experience
  • Experience with project management systems such as Planisware, Smartsheets, Monday, Jira or others, including experience in implementing new systems across an organisation and managing the change process that comes with it

Desirable

  • Cardiovascular therapy area experience
  • Experience in developing strategy within pharma / med-tech through commercial roles or strategy consulting in the sector
  • Strong understanding of stages of medical device development process and/or experience in the industrialisation and commercialisation of med tech
  • Experience with Agile project management methodologies
  • Experience working in a start-up environment or building a new team within a larger organisation
