Job description

Swan is looking for their second Technical Writer. You’ll focus on internal Operations and Product processes and documentation, plus our end-user articles on Zendesk. In time, you might also learn our docs-as-code system and contribute to public Partner documentation.

You’ll be a part of the Operations team and report to Coley, our Lead Technical Writer. Operations is a pillar to Swan’s success, with a mission to provide a flawless end-end customer experience, and our docs are a key element of that experience. The Ops team includes Technical Writing, Technical Account Managers, End-User Support, and Know Your Customer (KYC) folks. We are all about customer obsession and making sure Swan offers the smoothest, most elegant Banking-as-a-Service experience out there!

Your mission

  • Swan’s internal processes and Zendesk end-user guides will be your works of art. You’re in charge of cranking up their quality and making them shine.

  • Transform complex information into clear and engaging content.

  • Lead projects to optimize our documentation (gather feedback).

  • Write and fine-tune technical content such as articles, user flows and guides, while keeping to our tone of voice.

  • Talk to other teams — a lot. TAM, Ops, Product, Engineering, Marketing, you’ll make all sorts of inquiries and gather information to help improve our documentation.

  • Improve and maintain existing writing processes.

Preferred experience

You’re a great match if:

  • Experience: You have at least two years of practical experience as a Technical Writer. Experience managing documentation and processes in a Content Management System would be a plus.

  • You’re a writer: You geek out over finding just the right words.

  • Collaboration: You’re comfortable reaching out to all kinds of different colleagues. You’re able to understand the unique challenges they face and figure out together the best way to get things done.

  • Systematic: You plan structure in advance and don’t make a mess that you hope to clean up later. Or if that does happen, you really, really care about getting that mess cleaned up 😊.

  • Teacher’s attitude: You can turn complex and technical concepts into engaging, clear, and concise messages for our audience.

  • Prioritization: You have the ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Start-up mode: You enjoy working in a challenging, fast-paced, target-driven, and team-oriented environment.

  • Not afraid to learn new tools: You’re not afraid to play around with new-to-you tools to design the best docs.

  • Languages: Exceptional written English, and excellent general English skills. Proficiency in another language would be a plus (especially German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, or French).

  • You leave your ego at the door: You eat up constructive feedback, and are happy to repeatedly revisit old work to make it even better!

It’s okay if you don’t tick all the boxes — don’t let imposture syndrome prevent you from applying! 🙌
