Job description

Swan is looking for a Country Lead Germany, based in our Berlin office, to commercially develop Swan in Germany/DACH and be the face of the company for the region. This is a hybrid role where you both need to like being an individual contributor, actively hunting, convincing and signing new partners and to publicly embody Swan, eg. at events, on LinkedIn or in the press. Along with our German MLRO (Money Laundering and Reporting Officer), you will also be in charge of our relationships with the German regulatory authorities (aka “die BaFin”)

This is a key role that will give you the opportunity to shape our future in the DACH region. Of course, we’re looking for someone with a strong business acumen, willing to make Swan grow over the long-term and excited by the challenges of selling. But we’re also looking for a strategic thinker, able to understand our customers’ needs and to perform consultative sales.

We need a curious person, willing to learn and comfortable with the technical aspects of our product. We’re also looking for a team player who will partner with our product and compliance teams (among others) to ensure our roadmap entails the main requests of our top German prospects and partners, and to constantly improve our onboarding processes.

Your mission

  • Be accountable for increasing revenue and new client acquisition at high rates of growth

  • With the support of our BDR and growth teams, develop outbound strategies to create and nurture opportunities

  • Develop a consultative and solution-based sales approach to answer our customers needs

  • Be the internal and external point of contact for our marketing and PR activities in Germany

  • Build Swan’s offer to tackle new verticals

  • Be the voice and face of Swan for the region (at events and in the press)

  • Attend industry events to meet new prospects and spot new opportunities for Swan

  • Be in charge of relationships with local regulators to make sure Swan correctly meets its requirements

  • Effectively work cross-functionally across the organization to shape Swan’s solutions to meet customer needs

Preferred experience

You’re a great match if:

  • 4/5+ Sales experience, preferably selling a technical product in Fintech or Payments

  • Demonstrated capacity to sell to large accounts: you know how to approach complex organizations and conduct deals with long sales cycles

  • Previous experience in an international / European environment

  • Professional proficiency in English and German

  • Passion for startups and new technology businesses

  • Ability to understand and articulate technical concepts, and translate them into industry- or business-relevant terms

  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent team player and fun to work with

  • Our ideal teammate: Empathetic. Skilled. Frank. We love to challenge each other, and we leave our egos at the door.

It’s okay if you don’t tick all the boxes — don’t let imposter syndrome prevent you from applying! 🙌

Swan is committed to providing a caring work environment for all employees, regardless of age, sex, disability, sexual orientation, race, religion, or belief.

When it comes to recruitment, we’re interested in your work experience, skills, and overall personality. Because diversity makes the workplace stronger and is necessary for Swan’s success, we are intensifying efforts to incorporate concrete actions to help us improve in this area.

About Swan

Perks of being a Swanee:

  • VSOP packages available 😊

  • Hybrid remote policy: We offer the possibility of working from home for 2 days per week.

  • Swan encourages you to have fun staying fit, thanks to partnerships with Classpass

  • Twice a year we go somewhere gorgeous (a chateau, a mountain) where we reconnect, deep-dive into big topics, and relax.

  • This isn’t a perk, it should be the rule, but diversity and inclusion are important at Swan. We’re working hard to get better every day.

Our values:

Swan’s core values guide our actions daily. Individually, they may seem obvious, but together, they form a unique culture.

Simplicity: Leonardo Da Vinci said: “simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” If something’s convoluted or confusing, we work extra hard to break it down. - Making complex things simple is what we do.

Long Term: We always play the long game, whether it’s to support our partners in their growth journey, or make tangible commitments to climate action.

Excellence: We are a team of experts who consistently go all out to create pixel-perfect banking services and exceed our partners’ expectations— whatever it takes.

Be Human: We believe in the power of kindness and the importance of acting with integrity. But embracing our humanity extends beyond interpersonal interactions, it means caring about greater issues that affect our planet.
