The position

Job description

The Role

You’ll lead a team of experienced developers (5 back-end, 2 front-end), QA specialists (4), and a DevOps engineer (1). Your job: make sure they’re set up to succeed, keep our tech aligned with product and business goals, and drive improvements.

This is a strategic role with lots of ownership, impact, and room to innovate.

What You’ll Do

🧑‍💻 Lead the Team

  • Make sure devs have the tools and clarity they need

  • Assign work, adjust staffing, and support team growth

  • Spot blockers and fix them

  • Handle hiring, team development, and budget

  • Be ready to roll up your sleeves when needed — whether unblocking an issue, joining a sprint ritual, or digging into technical topics with the team

🧭 Align Tech & Product

  • Build the roadmap with Product, balancing features, bugs, and tech debt

  • Involve engineers early to avoid surprises later

⚙️ Improve How We Work

  • Set up and evolve efficient workflows across squads

  • Track and leverage key engineering metrics (velocity, cycle time, QA reopen rate…) to understand what’s working and what needs fixing

  • Continuously challenge and refine our rituals, tools, and delivery processes, with a pragmatic Agile mindset

  • Maintain high code quality with support from QA and Architecture

  • Remove friction—automate where it makes sense, eliminate what doesn’t

🧱 Make Smart Tech Choices

  • Work with the Lead Architect on scalable, maintainable solutions

  • Be pragmatic—solve problems rather than following trends

  • Decide where to invest: people, tools, or infra

🧩 Connect Teams

  • Ensure smooth discussions between tech and other departments

  • Keep everyone aligned on goals and progress

  • Be a member of our CODIR alongside other department leaders

Why Apply

  • A senior, high-performing team: You’ll lead smart, autonomous engineers. This is not a hand-holding role—it’s about bringing vision, alignment, enhancing team culture, and enabling smarter ways of working.

  • A complex product with a UX challenge: Our product has a lot of features and technical depth, but it’s used by non-technical small business owners, so the challenge is making something complex feel simple and easy to use.

  • A challenging adaptation of our product: We’re scaling up for enterprise clients, which brings new challenges: handling multi-account setups, delivering meaningful analytics, and proving ROI. It’s a deep rethink across tech, UX, and product strategy.

🧰 Tech Stack

We work with a pragmatic and modern stack designed to balance scalability, simplicity, and developer efficiency:

  • Backend: Ruby on Rails (main framework), Sidekiq for background jobs, Typesense (quick searches)

  • Frontend: Angular (TypeScript) and VueJS, with a focus on performance and maintainability

  • Database: PostgreSQL, Redis (caching & job queues)

  • Infrastructure: Docker, Kubernetes, AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, EKS)

  • CI/CD: GitHub Actions (CI), automated QA pipelines

  • Monitoring & Observability: Sentry

  • Testing: RSpec, Cypress, Postman (API validation)

  • AI / ML: OpenAI APIs (integration ongoing), custom internal tooling

  • Other tools: JIRA, Notion (documentation), Slack, Figma

We favor simplicity over complexity and make tech decisions with long-term maintainability in mind.

Preferred experience

  • Engineer, with a technical background as a developer or technical project manager

  • Solid experience leading engineering teams (2+ years as a Manager), ideally of distributed team

  • Strong grasp of how to build and ship products—not just tech for tech’s sake

  • Skilled at spotting what unlocks team performance and making it happen

  • Comfortable driving change and improving how people work together

  • A good manager—clear, fair, supportive, and structured

  • Fluent in French and English (our working languages)

  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages

  • Experience with:

    • CI/CD pipelines

    • Modern front-end frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue)

    • PostgreSQL or MySQL

    • Docker, Kubernetes

  • Interest in how AI/ML can enhance product or engineering workflows

🌟 Nice-to-Haves

  • Ruby (Rails)

  • OpenAI or Anthropic API integration

  • Python

  • Sidekiq

  • TypeSense

  • After Effects

Recruitment process

  • Quick call/visio with Daphné, Chief People Officer

  • Job fit interview with Daphné and Anthony (VP Tech & Product)

  • Technical interview with Thierry (CTO) and Maksym (Lead Architect)

  • Artur Visit (culture fit interview)
