Job description

🌍 Our Vision & Mission
At Payflows, we’re on a mission to free finance teams from repetitive, low-value tasks so they can focus on strategic growth. Our all-in-one ERP platform powers banking connectivity, payments, AI-driven workflows, and more—enabling finance teams to truly thrive.

🤝 Why Join Us?
Join a team of builders who’ve been in the trenches at Airbnb, Luko, BNP Paribas, and Facebook. It’s intense and fast-paced, but you’ll see your fingerprint on a product that genuinely impacts customers. If that’s what you’re after, you’ll love it here.

🚀 What You’ll Do
As an Engineering Manager, you’ll play a key role in shaping both product and team outcomes:

  • 🎯 Shape the Roadmap: Translate high-level product and business needs into clear engineering goals. Prioritize effectively and align the team around the “why.”

  • 🧑‍💻 Lead by Example: Stay hands-on at a high level—review critical PRs, contribute to architecture discussions, and unblock complex technical decisions.

  • 🌱 Coach & Support: Grow engineers through thoughtful feedback, career guidance, and continuous learning opportunities. Foster ownership and autonomy.

  • 📦 Drive Delivery: Partner with Product to plan sprints, scope features, and manage changing priorities while maintaining quality and momentum.

  • 🛡️ Balance Innovation & Maintenance: Champion clean, scalable systems while actively reducing tech debt. Advocate for strong foundations without slowing the pace.

  • 🧠 Elevate Engineering Culture: Set a high bar for code quality, process efficiency, and cross-functional collaboration. Push for smarter tooling and better ways of working.

🤩 What Makes You a Great Fit

  • 🗓️ 2+ years in engineering management.

  • 🛠️ Strong technical background: You understand backend systems, architecture, and can guide deep technical discussions.

  • 🎯 Product-minded: You understand the impact of engineering decisions on real users.

  • 💪 Thrive under intensity: You’re energized by challenges and tight deadlines.

  • 🔊 Excellent communicator: You can align stakeholders and keep the team motivated and focused.

Preferred experience

🧑‍💻 Must-Have Skills:

  • 3+ years coding in Python or any other OOP language

  • Backend systems: API design, microservices, frameworks

  • Databases & SQL: Relational databases, data modeling

  • Git: Revision control workflows

  • Engineering mindset: Build, test, analyze, simplify—take smart shortcuts when needed

🧩 Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • B2B enterprise SaaS background

  • ERP or Banking-as-a-Service integration experience

  • Serverless infrastructure (AWS), event-driven architecture know-how

💻 Tech Stack:

  • Backend: Python / Flask / SQLAlchemy / Rust

  • Frontend: Typescript / Vue3 / Amplify

  • Data: PostgreSQL / DynamoDB / S3

  • Infra: AWS / Serverless / Docker / Airflow / Databricks

  • Tooling: Git / GitLab / Sentry

🎁 Perks & Benefits:

  • 🏡 Remote-Friendly: 2 days/week remote + 1 full remote week every 6 weeks

  • 💰 Competitive Salary & Equity

  • 📚 Learning & Growth: Meetups, hackathons, conferences

  • 🌈 Team Culture: Radical candor, big ambitions, no ego—we break, learn, fix, and repeat together
