The position

Job description

Created in 2013, Lydia quickly became the reference for payment between friends. The French fintech has gained great notoriety for this feature and now has more than 7 million users. In recent years, Lydia has developed other services - pot, current account, common account, savings, credit, investment... to become the daily and complete payment application for millions of French people.

With 250 employees based in Paris, Nantes, Bordeaux and Lyon, Lydia has set itself the task of changing the codes of the bank by offering all the essential services to manage your money on a daily basis through a simple, accessible and enjoyable customer experience.

As the Head of data, you will define a data strategy & vision that unlock the potential of our data assets while ensuring compliance, security and privacy. You will be responsible for developing and implementing data solutions that will help our company achieve its strategic objectives. Additionally, you will be responsible for influencing and inspiring all members of our organization to use data the right way in order to make better decisions.


What you will do:

  • Develop a compelling data vision and strategy that will help our company achieve its strategic objectives.

  • Define and implement data governance policies and procedures, establishing standards for data collection, storage, security, and privacy.

  • Develop and execute the data governance strategy for the company, aligning it with the overall business objectives and goals of the organization.

  • Lead and mentor a team of data science, data engineering, and analytics engineers, fostering their professional growth and driving them towards excellence.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business challenges and opportunities where data can play a critical role in generating actionable insights and driving informed decision-making.

  • Oversee the design and implementation of data-driven solutions, ensuring the utilization of best practices and cutting-edge technologies.

  • Develop and maintain scalable data infrastructure, including data pipelines, data lakes, and databases, while ensuring data quality and integrity.

  • Drive the adoption of advanced analytics techniques, machine learning, and predictive modeling to generate valuable insights and support data-driven decision-making.

  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and advancements in the data field, identifying opportunities for innovation and driving

  • Drive a data-driven culture across the organization, providing training and resources, and fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making.continuous improvement within the team.

  • Communicate data vision, strategy, progress, challenges, and opportunities to exco, advocating for necessary resources and support to drive the data strategy.



  • You are in the right place if you have :

  • Proven experience in a leadership data role with a track record of delivering impactful data-driven solutions.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams and effectively communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong knowledge of data management principles, data architecture, and data engineering practices.

  • Deep understanding of statistical analysis, machine learning techniques, and advanced analytics methodologies.

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing data strategies, driving organizational change, and promoting a data-driven culture.

  • Experience working in a startup or fast-paced environment, demonstrating agility, resilience, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
