🌟 YOUR ROLE WILL BE:

We’re looking for a Senior Mobile App Designer to join our growing design team and take a lead role in shaping the mobile experience of Hivebrite. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the end-to-end design of our native iOS and Android apps, ensuring they are intuitive, polished, and consistent with our brand and platform standards.

As a Senior Mobile App Designer, you’ll work closely with product managers, engineers, and fellow designers to craft exceptional mobile-first user experiences that serve a wide variety of community needs. You’ll champion mobile design best practices, advocate for platform-specific interactions, and help define how users engage with Hivebrite on the go.

You are autonomous, proactive, and comfortable leading mobile design initiatives. You think deeply about interaction patterns, usability, and performance in mobile environments and you’re excited to deliver best-in-class native app experiences that delight our users.

🌟 DESIGN AT HIVEBRITE:

Our design team is in the midst of an exciting transformation, reshaping both how we work and what we deliver. Over the past year, we’ve launched and fully integrated a robust design system that brings consistency, scalability, and elevated user experience across the entire Hivebrite platform. We’ve significantly reduced technical debt, introduced a powerful theming engine that empowers clients with greater customization, and laid a strong, flexible foundation for continued innovation.

We’re now accelerating strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing admin efficiency and deepening user engagement, while also embracing emerging technologies like AI to improve internal workflows and amplify the value we bring to the vibrant communities we serve.

A major part of this evolution is happening on mobile. What began as a fully webview-based app is now being transformed into a faster, more intuitive native mobile companion app — designed from the ground up to deliver a truly seamless, high-quality experience optimized for on-the-go engagement. This marks a significant step forward in our mission to empower vibrant communities, wherever and whenever they connect.

Driving this progress is our dedicated mobile squad, established 3 years ago. A focused, cross-functional team of a product manager, designer, and mobile developers. Together, they’re reimagining how communities connect on mobile by steadily replacing webviews with native experiences that feel modern, responsive, and tailored to our users’ needs. We work with React Native - evolving from webviews to a unified React Native experience that enhances performance and user engagement.

🌟 YOUR MISSION WILL BE:

  • Lead the mobile design vision: own and define the design strategy for Hivebrite’s native mobile companion app. You’ll set the vision for mobile UX/UI and ensure it aligns with product goals, user needs, and the overall Hivebrite brand experience.
  • Design End-to-End Mobile Experiences: drive the full mobile design process — from discovery and research to wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity UIs. You’ll focus on delivering fast, elegant, and intuitive experiences tailored for mobile-first use cases.
  • Shape a Best-in-Class Mobile App: help evolve our mobile offering from a hybrid webview model to a rich, native app experience. You’ll partner closely with mobile developers to craft interfaces that are performant, accessible, and platform-aware.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: work closely with product managers, mobile engineers, and other stakeholders to prioritize features, define user journeys, and bring the mobile companion app to life. You’ll champion user needs and ensure that the app solves real problems and delights our users.
  • Advocate for Design Excellence: champion design system evolution, mobile-specific patterns, accessibility standards, and UX best practices. Ensure consistency across mobile experiences while pushing for innovation.
  • Lead Discovery & Research for Mobile: Plan and conduct mobile-specific user research, usability testing, and design workshops. Use insights to inform and validate design decisions that resonate with our diverse user base.
  • Strategic Thinking: Connect mobile design outcomes to broader business and product goals. You’ll help define what success looks like for our mobile experience — now and into the future.
  • Drive Operational Quality: mprove mobile design workflows, streamline collaboration with mobile devs, and identify opportunities to raise the bar in how we build and scale mobile experiences.
  • Stay Ahead of the Curve: keep up with mobile UX trends, platform updates, design tools, and competitor offerings — and proactively bring new ideas to the team to keep us ahead in the market.

🌟 YOU MIGHT BE A FIT IF:

You're a seasoned mobile designer who thrives on creating meaningful, intuitive experiences for users on the go. With a strong mobile-first mindset, you’re excited to set the direction, lead the vision, and dive into the details to bring polished, high-impact designs to life. You’re driven by curiosity, not afraid to question assumptions, and always ready to bring innovative, user-centered ideas that not only solve problems — but delight users at every touchpoint.

  • Mobile Design Expertise: you have 5+ years of experience designing mobile-native applications, ideally in a SaaS or B2B context. You're deeply familiar with platform-specific patterns and best practices for iOS and Android, and know when to design consistently vs. natively.
  • Vision & Leadership: you’re capable of owning the end-to-end design vision for a mobile app, driving strategic decisions and aligning stakeholders across disciplines. You’ve led complex design projects and know how to balance user needs, business goals, and technical realities.
  • AI-Augmented Mindset: you actively leverage AI tools to enhance your design workflow, boost productivity, and explore new creative directions. You see AI as a partner in pushing boundaries and improving how we work.
  • Data-Informed Designer: you combine intuition with insight — using product analytics, user behavior data, and research findings to guide your design decisions and measure success.
  • Autonomous & Accountable: you take full ownership of your work, from research and discovery to final design handoff. You’re proactive, organized, and comfortable navigating ambiguity.
  • Master of Tools & Systems: you have advanced skills in Figma, design systems, responsive and mobile UI design, and accessibility. You know how to work efficiently within a system — and when it needs to evolve.
  • Strong Communicator & Collaborator: you excel at presenting and defending your design rationale to engineers, product managers, and executives alike. You value feedback and collaboration, and bring energy to cross-functional teams.
  • Mentor & Multiplier: You enjoy mentoring other designers, sharing your knowledge, and helping raise the bar across the team. You actively contribute to a culture of growth, feedback, and continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Thinker: You’re able to zoom out to see the bigger picture, connecting design work to long-term business goals and user outcomes — especially in a mobile context.

Nice to have

  • Experience designing mobile companion apps that extend or complement a core web platform
  • Background in community platforms, social networks, or membership-based SaaS products
  • Familiarity with hybrid mobile frameworks (e.g. React Native) and how they impact design decisions
  • Understanding of mobile-specific analytics and engagement patterns
