Your mission

The Product & Engineering team already features more than 50 people in Europe, and we plan on growing in 2020 as well. To be able to scale the team in good conditions, we are organised in squads and tribes inspired by Spotify, where people with various expertise collaborate, like engineering, data, product design, SEO or product management.

We are now looking for someone to take the engineering lead of 2 of our 3 tribes, namely:

Marketplace, 3 squads with the objective to acquire & grow a high-quality supply and demand and make them match.
Car Sharing, 3 squads focusing on delivering a consistently great trip experience to drivers

We are looking for someone who enjoys leading a team of bright people, give them everything they need to succeed and make sure everything is moving forward efficiently.

What you’ll work on

  • Lead the Marketplace and Car Sharing tribes on the engineering side
  • Manage and mentor all engineering managers within the tribes as well as some senior individual contributors
  • Optimise staffing and advance recruiting in the tribes
  • Relay the company and engineering vision to the team
  • Improve cross squad and cross tribe communication
  • Ensure reliable delivery, good code quality and general team happiness
  • Take part in discussions regarding large organisational and/or technical changes in the engineering team

Who you’ll work with

You will work and directly report to Marc G Gauthier, VP of Engineering Europe.

The team is currently composed of:

  • 3 Engineering Managers
  • 12 full-stack and backend engineers

What you’ll bring to the table

Overall you will need to care a lot about agility and efficiency: building the right thing, the best way possible given the various constraints that can appear during the lifetime of a project. Of course this also means working in a sustainable way, making long term technical decisions and keeping the team happy and productive to promote retention and internal mobility.

To get into more details, we are looking for these skills:

  • Already managed an agile engineering team, ideally in a startup environment
  • Shipped and maintained code in production
  • Strong technical skills, ideally some Ruby and Javascript experience but not required
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Pragmatic and well organised
  • Good English skills
