We are looking for an engineering master student (mechatronics, electronics, automatization, robotics, etc.) who is eager to learn and to apply their knowledge and creativity in the technical development and testing of novel microfluidic instrumentation.
The internship will be within Elvesys’ Innovation Unit, at the interface of applied research and innovation and addressing unmet needs of the research community in microfluidics.
You will be part of a small team to develop technical solutions and be open to learning in all areas within your reach.
The focus of the internship will be automating laboratory processes with Python for microfluidic testing
Your missions will be the following:
• Development of an automatic calibration bench for microfluidic sensors ◦ Development of Python tests for the automatic checking of the operation (and calibration) of the sensor: response time, accuracy, noise, etc. ◦ Signal processing (e.g. Kalman filter tuning) ◦ Integration of developed software in a Raspberry Pi• Microfluidic experiments, data gathering, and potential automatization• Possibility for work in: ◦ Automatic control, machine learning ◦ Electronics development and testing ◦ Mechanical assembly and testing
Profile required:
• You have an engineering degree and are pursuing a Master's degree related to electronics, mechatronics, automatization, robotics, etc. and you are ready to work on multidisciplinary projects• Proficient in Python and microcontroller programming• Familiarity with sensors, automation, basic signal processing• Ideally experience/knowledge in electronics/mechatronics• Interest and/or experience in microfluidics• You feel comfortable in an international environment and are confident to work independently and in English• You like working at the bench and being actively involved in the development of new technologies
