Job type: Full time (preferable), upon agreement possible part-time (min 80%)

 People in Need (PIN) is one of the largest non-profit organizations in the Central and Eastern Europe region working in the field of humanitarian and development aid, promotion of human rights and social inclusion. Currently, over 2400 employees work for the Humanitarian and Development Section of People in Need in 23 countries on 3 continents.

Position Summary

The Finance and Accounting Assistant (FAA) supports the work of Finance Coordinators (FCs) and Accounting controllers (ACCs) in the majority of her/his activities (per request). FAA helps with Country programme administrative, financial and accounting tasks from headquarters (HQ).  

This position should prepare FAA for future work in any Relief and Development Department (RDD) positions at either in the Country programmes or at HQ (FC or ACC). Therefore, the Line Manager (RHoSO), FCs, ACCs and HR department should strive to build capabilities of the FAA by progressively increasing her/his responsibilities.

What will be your responsibility?

  • Support with

    • checks of financial and accounting documents and their compliance with accounting data and legal framework;

    • data analysis;

    • executing some specific accounting operations;

    • preparation of documents and data for projects´ financial and accounting closing;

    • tasks related to accounting and internal processes of the assigned Country Programmes.

  • Providing Document Circulation and Archiving

  • Providing documentation and data during audits.

  • Support for country programmes in finance and accounting

  • Support with drafting budgets, report preparation, project finance management

Preferred experience

We are looking for someone who:

  • have a university degree / be a student of a university in their last year ideally in a master’s field focused on finance, accounting, project management, etc.

  • proficient in English (min. B2 active)

  • excellent communication and organisational skills

  • is detail-oriented and diligent

  • is reliable and flexible and has a positive approach to new challenges

  • has a desire to further his/her education and development

  • is able to organise his/her work independently and take responsibility for it

  • is willing to travel in the future
