Job description

Tech team at AXA Climate

Using Data from satellites, weather stations and scientific observations, the job of the tech team is to compute Data and build products to help our clients understand the impact of climate change.
Handling such Data and providing accurate projections is a hard challenge. Our job is to gather historical Data, analyze tendencies and if possible, take into account the impact of climate change, and therefore Science.

Beyond Climate, we aim at measuring the impact on bio-diversity where challenges are even harder.

Ops team

Our products fetch data from partners or public data (imagery, weather-stations) and perform some computations to create indicators that are exposed through SaaS systems/APIs internally or to our clients outside. Our indicators help our clients evaluate physical and environmental risks. From draughts to hurricanes, from CI-CD to Observability systems (Cortex/Grafana…), logs managements with adequate and strong security, the team handles multiple tasks.

Our aim is to build real automation for our infrastructure, based on reproducibility, high-automation, and opinionated views on how to operate effectively. We want to push observability at the heart of our strategy and be able to operate our platform based on metrics and actionable changes.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve our infrastructure : DNS, Gitlab build system
  • Handle setup and security of our virtual networks on AWS and k8s clusters.
  • Help other dev/security teams perform and collaborate by providing support and advice
  • Select and promote the use of relevant tools
  • Handle proper management of IAM roles and policies with automation
  • Act as a gatekeeper with the help of the security team

Preferred experience

Skills and requirements

  • Experience handling a cloud-based infrastructure, ideally AWS
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Gitlab CI or similar)
  • Knowledge in automation/scripting (Python, Ruby, Bash or Go…)
  • Good skills with Linux and containerization (Docker, k8s)

Bonus

  • Knowledge of AWS security **mechanisms (IAM, Security Groups, VPCs etc.)
  • Previous experience with GeoSpatial Data
  • Experience handling a multi-region cloud infrastructure
  • Participation to open source code/communities/conferences
