Job description

AXA Climate has developed complete business lines to help tackle climate change adaptation (Climate School, Insurance, Consulting for Industry/Agri/Finance/Public sector). Globally, we are a team of >150 climate experts, headquartered in Paris, spread over 5 continents and driven by the same desire for impact. Our purpose is to help Planet Earth become a true stakeholder of all companies, in the same way that employees, customers and shareholders are!

A third of AXA Climate team-members are dedicated to help public and private stakeholders understand their climate risks and adapt to climate change: that’s our consulting business.

AXA Climate initial and core expertise is on climate physical risks, but our value proposition includes today transition risks, decarbonisation, ESG, biodiversity and Sustainable Finance.

You will join the Financial Services Advisory team whose mission is to redirect financial flows towards environmental and low carbon transition. In that mission, you will support investors (in Private Equity, Infrastructure, and real estate), as well as banks and institutional investors. To increase the impact of our work, you will be also working with the investee companies, as well as with the AXA Climate teams dedicated to other sectors (Public Sector, Industry and Agriculture/Agronomy) and transversal teams (mainly data analysts and scientists).

As a Low Carbon Transition consultant, you will work in a growing field of expertise, with both new and repeat clients. You will also be able to contribute to sectoral working groups (e.g. France Invest)

Your main missions are:

To drive the execution of consulting missions to support the decarbonization initiatives of our clients. For example, your clients will be Private Equity funds (and their portfolio companies), development banks (and their financed projects), etc. The scope of the missions includes: defining robust climate strategies, in line with market best practices; GHG emissions baselining (Scope 1, 2 and Scope 3); set reduction targets and define Net Zero trajectories (for ex., based on SBTi, NZAOA, NZIF, …); and build decarbonization roadmaps and climate transition plans, with clear and quantified decarbonization measures (potentially including the use of MACC).

To deliver, as a leader, consulting missions to appraise, quantify and monetize risks and opportunities emerging from the Low Carbon transition, in line with the TCFD recommendations and the CSRD directive. This includes scenario analysis, leading strategic interviews with clients’ representatives and facilitating collaborative workshops.

To help build the Low Carbon consulting offer for AXA Climate, and ensure we serve our clients with a valuable and unique approach. We believe each of our clients has its own singularity, and we work through a collaborative and transparent approach.

To contribute to other consulting missions for which you could bring skills to the team (e.g. physical climate risk screening, ESG, biodiversity). We promote cross-collaboration between services and teams.

To contribute to product innovation within the Low Carbon domain, ensuring our offer and services are up-to-speed with the latest development – and sometimes anticipate trends!

Preferred experience

  • Experience: You have between 3 and 5 years of experience as a Low Carbon consultant, ideally with hands-on experience in supporting financial institutions.

  • You are rigorous, autonomous, and pay attention to details.

  • You have excellent communication & listening skills.

  • Technical knowledge: You are talented on carbon footprinting, you master the GHG Protocol, PCAF, and SBTi – with a proven track record. You are familiar with main Net Zero frameworks for investors (e.g. NZAOA, NZIF, …). You master sectoral decarbonization trends and initiatives, and know what MACC are 😉. You are familiar with transition scenario analysis and are not afraid of NGFS scenarios nor CRREM. And you like numbers and graphs!

  • Project delivery: You are able to deliver projects in time, with the right level of quality.

  • Content mastering: You are able to quickly gain knowledge on a new topic, and recap in a comprehensive and impactful manner extensive workstreams.

  • You are fluent in English and French.
