The position

Job description

The main objective of the Target Ranking team is to identify the most relevant therapeutic targets for Aqemia’s drug discovery pipeline. The team serves as the entry point for targets, which are then continuously monitored to ensure only the best assets for Aqemia are worked on.

Our Target Ranking team:

  • Designs, develops and runs target assessment workflows

  • Extracts novel insights, encompassing chemistry and biology complexity, to guide the selection of targets for drug discovery pipelines

  • Models this extensive and intricate knowledge in innovative ways

  • Manages a portfolio of promising targets for Aqemia’s drug discovery pipeline

The Target Ranking team leverages multiple expertises to deliver on this exciting goal (inc. data engineering, data science, biology, chemistry…).

The difference you’ll make

We are looking for a data scientist to join the Target Ranking team, whose role will be to work on the development, implementation and maintenance of a target identification framework. By doing so, you will play a crucial part in shaping Aqemia’s portfolio of drug discovery targets!

What you’ll do :

  • Creation, development and maintenance of business and biological indicators for the assessment of therapeutic targets

  • Supporting the maintenance of a portfolio of attractive therapeutic targets

  • Transformation and analysis of omics and biomedical data

  • Implementation of machine learning methods to extract relevant biological information from various data sources

  • Evaluating outcomes and presenting results with Aqemia’s drug discovery platform teams

  • Staying up-to-date with the state-of-the-art and latest AI and bioinformatics methodologies and processes


Preferred experience

  • 4+ years of experience as a data scientist

  • Master’s degree or PhD in data science, bioinformatics, or related field

  • Demonstrable experience with working with biological data

  • Advanced knowledge in applied mathematics, statistics and machine learning methods (ideally in biostatistics)

  • Experience in working with omics or biomedical datasets

  • Fluent in object-oriented language development (ideally Python)

  • Experience in delivering technical projects from start to finish

  • Written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate with a technical and non-technical audience
