Job description

Alice & Bob is developing the first universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer to solve the world’s hardest problems.

The quantum computer we envision building is based on a new kind of superconducting qubit: the Schrödinger cat qubit. In comparison to other superconducting platforms, cat qubits have the astonishing ability to implement quantum error correction autonomously!

We are at the forefront of the quantum race, competing with tech giants such as Google or IBM, and we are growing fast after securing  €100 million of funding in 2025 to develop our unique technology.

Currently 100+ and counting, between physicists, PhD students, engineers and experienced business professionals, we are united to reach our ambitious goal. Are you a quantum pioneer? Join us on a mission to reshape the future!

About the role

We need a Quantum Compilation Scientist to be a core member of our brand new compilation team. Your mission will be to design and optimize the crucial software toolchain that bridges the gap between quantum programs and the physical gates on our processors. You'll work across disciplines—from quantum physics to computer science—with the immediate goal of bringing all of our recent architectural innovations into the resource estimator. This ensures that our systems are both scalable and perform at their peak.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Alice & Bob’s compilation tool suit, both with theoretical studies and implementation, to ensure the best use our fault-tolerant quantum computer architecture.
  • Improve the resource estimator to integrate our newest architectural improvement, and make it usable by external users.
  • Fill patents, publish your results in scientific publications and present them in conferences.
  • Mentor junior members of the team, interns, and PhD students.
  • Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise across quantum compilation, quantum error correction, fault-tolerant quantum algorithms, classical language and compilation theory.
  • PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Quantum Information Science, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Python and at least a compiled language (e.g. C++, Rust, etc.); experience with other relevant languages is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Professional-level English proficiency, both written and spoken.
  • Nice to Have

  • Deep expertise in graph theory or branch & bound/constraint propagation algorithms.
  • Solid understanding of classical compiler backends (e.g., LLVM, GCC) or high-performance or specialized computing compilers.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of computer architecture and operating systems.
  • Benefits

  • 25-day vacation policy (as per French law) + RTT
  • Half of transportation cost coverage (as per French law), or yearly allowance for bike enthusiasts
  • Competitive health benefits with Helium/AXA
  • Meal vouchers with Swile, as well as access to a fully equipped kitchen
  • Parental benefits with crèche support
  • Flexible remote policy, up to 40 % a month
  • Language courses covered by the company
  • Mental health support with moka.care
