**ALGAE BIOLOGY SCIENTIST
**
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for an Engineer/Researcher in Algae Physiology, who will be responsible

for:

● Set up an algal culture collection and laboratory cultivation facilities.

● Identify micro- and macroalgae for the different laboratories of the R&D

department.

● Develop or adapt selection protocols for algal strains with characteristics of

interest for food formulation: texturizing properties, colorless strains, high

protein content, vitamins… through strain screening according to the needs of

Algama’s projects.

● Select variants or mutants using microbiology methods, random mutagenesis,

or directed evolution by cultivation in bioreactors (Fed-Batch and continuous).

● Develop or adapt selection protocols for algal strains with characteristics of

interest for food formulation: texturizing properties, colorless strains, high

protein content, vitamins… through strain screening according to the needs of

Algama’s projects.

● Establish operating conditions for optimal microalgal biomass productivity in

thelaboratory.

● Study the influence of culture parameters on the content of compounds of

interest in algae and on metabolic orientation.

● Develop production processes at various laboratory scales

SKILLS

We are looking for a professional in phycology sector with the following skills:

● Scientific knowledge (related to the R&D project)

● Organizational and planning skills

● Knowledge of how an R&D project operates and its associated market

● Strong synthesis and analytical skills

● Good writing skills for drafting reports and scientific notes

● Knowledge and expertise in unit operations and pilot/industrial production

tools

● Proactive, Dynamic, Resourceful, Organized, Rigorous, Creative, and with

Management skills

● Operational English (reading, writing, speaking)

PROFIL
This position requires an intermediate to advanced level of experience. We are looking

to recruit a profile with expertise in Algae Physiology projects for the agri-food

industry.

● Proficiency in production techniques in phototrophy, mixotrophy, and

heterotrophy

● Expertise in microalgae physiology

● Mastery of strain screening techniques

● Familiarity with different types of photobioreactors and fermenters

● Proficiency in statistical tools and experimental design

● Good level of technical and scientific English

● Qualities: Dynamism and curiosity, ability to take initiative, scientific rigor,

analytical mindset, teamwork
