Job description

Who we are

Paris 🇫🇷 (EUR 35,000 - EUR 40,000 ) + stock options 💰 6 months - 2+ years experience 🧪

🌬 Zeffy is leading a transformation in the social economy with its unique zero-fee fundraising platform, currently trusted by over 25,000 nonprofits throughout North America.

🚀 We’re experiencing a 300% year-over-year growth and have just exceeded $500 million in transactions processed! There’s no better time to join us, as you’ll be among the first 30 employees set to make a tangible impact from day one.

🌱 If that’s not compelling enough for you, we are also proud to hold a B Corp certification.

About the role:

Zeffy is supporting 25,000 nonprofits with the only truly free fundraising platform.

The challenge? We are tackling more fraud and payment operations due to our expanding product range and growing volume of donations.

As a Fraud & Risk Analyst, you’ll act on a daily basis to assess and prevent fraud risks, whatever their type, to make sure that Zeffy remains a safe and trustworthy platform for all our users as we scale!

Your end game? You are curious and passionate about fraud detection: when something seems off, you will investigate thoroughly to identify and solve the root of the problem.

Our Fraud & Risk team’s mission:

  • Protect donors and non-profit organizations from fraud and deceptive practices, while offering an optimal customer experience whatever the circumstances.

  • Ensure compliance with anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing regulations, including Know Your Customer (KYC) standards.

More precisely you will:

Fraud-fighting operations

  • Monitor transactions and accounts to identify suspicious behavior and anomalies.

  • Lead fraud investigations, leveraging a variety of information sources, and take proper mitigation actions when necessary.

  • Interact with nonprofit owners and donors, by email or by phone, gathering evidence or helping them deal with fraud-related matters.

  • Address payment disputes.

Optimization and scaling

  • Formulate feedbacks and recommendations on existing processes and tools to boost productivity and quality.

  • Participate actively in the optimization of in-house fraud detection algorithms by characterizing fraud-specific signals and patterns.

  • Identify recurring or critical user friction to suggest product improvements.

Collaboration and communication

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Customer Care and Data, to address fraud-related issues and implement effective and consensus-based solutions.

  • Promote fraud and risk prevention initiatives across different departments.

  • Report key findings and activity updates at manager’s level through reports, presentations and meetings.

Preferred experience

Preferred experience (qualifications)

  • 6 months to 2 years of experience in fraud prevention, ideally in a startup, fintech, or payment company.

  • Hands-on experience managing fraud operations.

  • Methodical approach to investigating and solving issues.

  • Excellent communication skills for handling customer disputes and fraud investigations.

  • Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken.

  • Keen interest in fraud prevention and staying updated on trends and regulations.

  • A plus: You have experience working in the U.S. market.

💡 Research shows that candidates from underrepresented backgrounds often don’t apply for roles if they don’t check every box. If this applies to you and you are interested in the position, we’d love to hear from you!
