The position

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee accounting processes, procedures, and controls, inclusive of AP, AR, GL, and job costing.
  • Responsible and motivated to drive efficiencies by streamlining and automating internal processes while maintaining controls for benefiting accuracy of reporting.
  • Manage, support, and train the finance team to maintain and withhold the integrity of the reporting cycle.
  • Work with VP Finance and team to create and adhere to common practices and standardization of accounting functions to develop best practices and gain efficiencies.
  • Contribute to improved decision making and drive operational improvement by identifying trends and conducting financial analyses across all business unit activities.
  • Play a pivotal role in the preparation of monthly/quarterly financial reporting (including forecasts and variance analyses) and the annual operating plan, including establishing financial performance targets each quarter.
  • Provide management oversight of cost accounting practices ensuring accurate reporting of project profitability and invoicing for structural performance of projects.
  • Provide leadership to team members to train, mentor, coach to ensure employees are performing at their highest potential.
  • Manage address financial issues concerns provide communication internal stakeholders. Deliver financial updates leadership team inclusive data interpretation analysis. Collaborate communicate key internal stakeholders ensure smooth on-going information exchange.
  • Empower direct reports ensure day-to-day tasks being completed appropriate level while overseeing activities ensure compliance accuracy.
  • Prepare necessary monthly reports Key Performance indicators (KPIs), Inventory Work-In Process variance analysis reports Leadership Team.
  • Innovate identify new reporting processes close gap between business unit operations requirements finance department deliverables.
  • Maintain excellent working knowledge changes reporting requirements through reporting both frameworks: ASPE IFRS providing gap analysis changes standards upcoming required adjustments.
  • Maintain financial control performance reporting system accordance company policies procedures conjunction local Business Unit legal requirements existing policies enhance departmental performance.
  • Maintain enforce appropriate internal controls financial operational processes.
  • Prepare monthly packages all business units.
  • Liaise external auditors both mid-year end year review.
  • Supervise treasury cost systems within established company review process.
  • Report company treasury needs assist treasury forecasting requirements.

Pay Range: $115,000-130,000


Preferred experience

Qualifications – What Will Make You Successful

  • 7+ years of experience in an accounting or finance role.
  • Degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Strong Excel experience.
  • Strong experience with accounting processes and procedures specifically related to reporting, forecasting, budgeting, AP and AR.
  • ERP experience (either with SAP or Oracle).
  • Experience with analyzing processes and implementing process improvements for the purposes of streamlining processes and procedures.
  • Experience managing, mentoring, and developing teams.
  • Analytical and decision making, capabilities.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Communication skills.
  • Exposure to project accounting and Oracle (Harmony) a definite asset.
  • Accounting designation (CPA) would be an asset.
