    Umiami is a FoodTech specialising in a proprietary texturing technology, umisation, for plant-based meats and fish applications. The firm develops and produces delicious and clean label plant-based chicken breasts, cod fillets and chicken nuggets.
    Umiami is based in Ile-de-France and partners with brands from all over the world to flood the market with products that are better than meat, in all respects.

    Job description

    As a Researcher in Process Engineering, your mission will be to master and optimise the different stages of our own technology: Umisation. You will also assist the product development team with the various problems encountered and you will participate in the valorization of the company’s technology. You will thus play a key role in the development of Umiami.

    Your main missions will be the following:

    • Participate in the strategy and define the development challenges of Umiami, in terms of innovation, research and development, and intellectual property, in collaboration with the company’s partners.
    • Study the impact of the different process steps on the product during Umisation, Umiami’s own technology. Carry out multi-scale analyses (rheology, texture, microscopy).
    • Formulate optimisation paths based on the results obtained, advise and guide the product development team on the choice of processes and their parameters
    • Actively participate in the protection of the company’s intellectual property
    • Manage and train a team of research technicians
    • Ensure a technical watch on food processes and enable Umiami to keep abreast of market innovations

    Preferred experience

    Seeked profile:

    • PhD in process engineering, ideally in the food industry
    • Fluent English and French required
    • Positive nature, entrepreneurial spirit and enjoy technological and operational challenges
    • Organised and able to work independently in the laboratory
    • Be passionate about science and driven by results
    • Act as a team player in a stimulating environment in which everyone contributes to the growth of the project
    • Be a strong proposer, creative in the search for solutions and know how to transmit your convictions to the various stakeholders (leadership/ communication skills).
    • A good knowledge of the plant market and experience of working on a pilot line will be a plus

    Work conditions:

    Contract: CDI - Full time.
    Location: France / Ile de France / 78-Les Loges-en-Josas and Paris. Occasional travels.
    Starting date : As soon as possible.
    Remuneration: Competitive, depending on experience
