Interim Finance Systems Manager (D365 F&O) – 9 Month Contract

We are seeking an experienced Interim Finance Systems Manager to join our finance team for a 9-month contract. This is a high-impact role with ownership of our finance systems landscape, where you will play a key part in ensuring we fully leverage the capabilities of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O) across both our UK and international operations.

As the organisation’s primary finance systems owner, you will bring strong hands-on expertise in D365 F&O, with a proven ability to identify, design, and configure system enhancements that improve automation, data accuracy, compliance, and financial reporting.

You will lead a small finance systems team and work closely with finance, technology, and wider business stakeholders to deliver system improvements that support efficiency, scalability, and business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and optimise D365 F&O, ensuring the system is fully utilised and continuously improved across all finance processes.

  • Identify, design, and configure system enhancements that maximise automation, accuracy, and efficiency across UK and international entities.

  • Lead and develop a team of two, providing clear direction, coaching, and effective prioritisation of work.

  • Ensure day-to-day system stability, including incident management, issue resolution, user access, controls, and master data governance.

  • Partner with finance, technology, and business teams to gather requirements, translate needs into system solutions, and deliver cross-functional improvements.

  • Drive process automation and system integrations, ensuring seamless connectivity between D365 and other finance systems such as SAP Concur, Pigment, and other financial tools.

  • Manage system configuration, testing, and deployment, working closely with external partners to ensure robust change control and high-quality delivery.

  • Maintain strong governance and compliance, ensuring data integrity, audit readiness, and adherence to regulatory and security standards.

  • Monitor system performance and user adoption, proactively identifying optimisation opportunities and recommending improvement roadmaps.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Extensive hands-on experience with D365 Finance & Operations, including deep knowledge of core finance modules, configuration, and optimisation.

  • Proven experience designing and implementing system enhancements that improve automation, accuracy, and overall system performance.

  • Strong understanding of finance systems architecture, integrations, and data flows.

  • Experience managing and improving integrations between finance systems and wider business applications.

  • Demonstrable people leadership experience, with a track record of building and motivating high-performing finance systems teams.

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting within a multi-entity, multi-currency environment.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across finance, technology, and the wider business.

  • Strong communication and influencing skills, able to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.

  • A proactive, delivery-focused mindset, with evidence of driving meaningful system and process improvements.

Desirable

  • Experience with ZIP Procurement and AP systems.

  • SAP Concur and Pigment experience.

  • Knowledge of workflow management and optimisation.

  • Exposure to Azure DevOps for managing change and release processes.

  • Experience with Financial Reporter, Power BI, and Microsoft data infrastructure.

  • Hands-on experience with Azure, SQL scripting, Visual Studio, and virtual environments.

  • Experience managing finance systems licensing, vendor relationships, and third-party partners.
