The position

Job description

We’re looking for an experienced QA Manager who is excited about growing our test automation efforts and structuring the QA Team (currently composed of 4 people)🎉

As a QA Manager, you will work closely with the rest of Engineering team and the product team and other business stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.

You’ll report to the VP Engineering.

Main tasks


Manage and lead the QA team

  • Define the team’s quarterly OKRs and manage the team’s priorities.

  • Provide guidance and coaching to team members on technical contributions, quality practices, and other areas.

  • Actively participate in the hiring process for your team.

  • Conduct regular 1:1 meetings with all members of the team.

Manage QA activities

  • Drive improvements to test framework architecture and test coverage.

  • Lead efforts to automate the testing process.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate testing earlier into the software development process.

  • Promote the adoption of best practices in code health, testing, testability, and maintainability (such as clean code and test pyramid).

  • Monitor and track test gaps, quality, and productivity metrics. Collaborate with other engineering teams to address gaps identified through this data.

  • Recommend improvements to overall best practices, design, testability, quality, and productivity.

Your team 

The Engineering team is by far the largest at Swan. This team includes Software developers, who build payments and end-customer applications, as well as Infrastructure, DevOps, and Security.

Preferred experience

You’re a great match if:

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience from an engineering school or university. A switch of career paths is also welcomed 😊

  • 4-6 years of experience as a Software Engineer in Test (or similar title) in a startup, scale-up, or another fast-paced work environment

  • Previous successful experience as a manager of a team

  • Strong leadership and team management skills

  • Experience with Web Services Test Automation Tools with a good understanding of modern web protocols (REST API, GraphQL)

  • Experience with Continuous Integration Systems (e.g., Gitlab, Jenkins)

  • Experience defining a high-level test automation strategy based on industry best practices

  • Experience driving organizational change with cross-functional stakeholders

  • Enjoy working in a challenging, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
