Job description

Swan’s compliance team keep our banking features safe and secure, and always have to think about the best way to combine multiple areas: business, legal, regulatory, customer support, and more. Swan is both a technology company and a financial services company, and our Compliance team makes these pieces fit together!

As an Electronic Money Institution, Swan faces many legal and regulatory challenges when conducting its business and operations : Fighting money laundering, protecting clients' funds, working with legitimate partners, etc.

Swan is looking for a Money Laundering Reporting Officer, based in our Berlin office, to lead our compliance program in regions including DACH, Benelux and Nordics.

For this position, we are looking for a German speaker.

✨ Main tasks

  • Spearheading regulatory change initiatives in your designated geography.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies in your assigned region, including the BaFin in Germany and the DNB in the Netherlands.
  • Validating compliance reviews conducted by our team of Compliance Managers.
  • Investigating the regulatory implications of various business use cases.
  • Analyzing the compliance aspects of new products and services and furnishing insights to the New Products Committee.
  • Overseeing local compliance requirements, such as reporting and suspicious activity reporting.
  • Crafting and refining compliance policies to ensure alignment with regulatory standards.
  • Approving operational processes with a keen eye on compliance considerations.
  • Maintaining a vigilant regulatory watch on banking supervision matters.

    Your team

At Swan, you'll have the opportunity to join our dynamic compliance team, led by the experienced Lead Compliance professional. Our team, currently consisting of four members, is actively expanding, with ongoing recruitment for two additional team members.

The compliance team operates within a department alongside the Risk, Legal, and Internal Control teams. In your role, you can anticipate close collaboration with the Sales and Product Teams, fostering an environment where cross-functional engagement is highly valued.

    Preferred experience

    You’re a great match if:

    • You have significant experience (+5 years) in a Compliance position in a financial institution, ideally in a Fintech or another fast-paced work environment.
    • You have a good knowledge of German banking regulations. Knowledge of regulations in another EEA country is a plus, especially in Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, and Italy, where Swan has branches.
    • You possess the mindset of a "problem solver": You need to be a creative and resourceful thinker, maintaining a positive and can-do attitude towards challenges and obstacles.
    • Flexibility to adapt to changing requirements in an evolving and fast-paced environment.
    • You are fluent in English and German
    • Our ideal teammate: Empathetic. Skilled. Frank. We love to challenge each other, and we leave our egos at the door.

It’s okay if you don’t tick all the boxes — don’t let imposter syndrome prevent you from applying! 🙌

Swan is committed to providing a caring work environment for all employees, regardless of age, sex, disability, sexual orientation, race, religion, or belief.

When it comes to recruitment, we’re interested in your work experience, skills, and overall personality. Because diversity makes the workplace stronger and is necessary for Swan’s success, we are intensifying efforts to incorporate concrete actions to help us improve in this area.
