Cécile is a passionate team builder with high entrepreneurial energy and a strong will to have an impact on children’s and women’s health. Born in a family of doctors, she first chose a different way and graduated from Sciences Po and HEC Paris. She acquired a strong business sense as strategy consultant at Bain&Co, from 2007 to 2012, before joining the FSI (Strategic Investment Fund) as Director of Strategy. She then discovered venture capital and entrepreneurship as Head of Development for Innovation at Bpifrance (French Public investment bank), and created Le Hub, a new service to help scale-ups grow, especially in the B2B SaaS and healthtech sectors. Determined to make a difference in healthcare, Cécile had the chance to meet Rémi and the team from Necker and Polytechnique, and create Sonio. Within a few months, she managed to build a highly talented and diverse team, driven to provide the best possible solution to secure prenatal diagnosis and pregnancy care.
Rémi is a mathematician. Fascinated by the advances in artificial intelligence, he started in 2016 a thesis in collaboration with obstetricians from Necker-enfants malades and mathematicians from Polytechnique to build a tool helping in the diagnosis of rare diseases. After defending his thesis in 2019, he founded Sonio with Cécile and his academic associates in April 2020. Convinced that AI can contribute to improve patient care, he is enthusiastic about the idea of participating in building such a tool and hopes that large-scale data collection will help advance medical research.
Roberto is a graphic designer and developer with very diverse skills. He started working in another century: in 1998, he became an interface designer for Lotto Sport in Italy. In 2005, he created a firm providing distance learning solutions, then moved to Paris and became a freelance consultant. Over the years, he has worked for a wide variety of large and medium-sized European companies in the industrial and communication sectors, for public institutions and for high technology start-ups. In 2020, he met the Sonio team and fell in love with the project. He decided to join the adventure as a Front End Designer and Developer.
Presentation
Each year, 140M children are born. Birth defects affect 1 in 33 births in developed countries, and in 50% of cases, they are not detected by ultrasound. Prenatal medicine is particularly complex, and the ultrasounds impose heavy responsibilities for the healthcare professionals. They can also be a source of stress for the future parents.
Resulting from 5 years of collaboration between world-renowned experts from Necker Hospital and Ecole Polytechnique, Sonio uses artificial intelligence to improve prenatal screening and diagnosis. Based on patented algorithms and a proprietary expert database, Sonio aims to become the reference tool to help practitioners improve screening, reduce diagnostic errors, and optimize the pregnant women’s medical path.
Sonio's mission is to improve women's and children's health by promoting access and quality of care through technological innovation, medical expertise, and collective intelligence.
