In this context, the Firmware Architect Engineering role is critical to ensuring the robustness, performance, and scalability of embedded systems integrated into our products (electrical protection, industrial automation, IoT, control & monitoring systems, etc.).
As part of our R&D teams, you will play a central role in defining, designing, and governing the firmware architecture of highly demanding and regulated products. You act as a technical expert, trusted advisor, and system architect, collaborating closely with hardware, software, product teams, quality, and manufacturing.
Your missions :
Architecture & Design :
- Define and lead the firmware architecture for embedded platforms.
- Translate product requirements into robust and scalable technological choices.
- Design modular architectures to support reusability, maintainability, and cybersecurity.
- Ensure alignment between firmware, hardware, and application software.
Development & Technical Expertise : - Contribute to the development of critical firmware components (C/C++, Python, Yocto, RTOS, low-level drivers, etc.).
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development engineers.
- Validate technology selections, tools, libraries, and frameworks.
- Deploy best practices in firmware engineering (testability, documentation, patterns, performance).
Reliability, Safety & Compliance : - Participate in functional and saftey analysis (FMEA, FMEDA, etc.).
- Ensure adherence to Schneider Electric’s product quality and regulatory standards (electrical safety, cybersecurity, industrial regulations).
- Contribute to design-for-test and overall product robustness.
Leadership & Cross-functional Collaboration : - Act as a key technical reference for internal teams (hardware, softare, industrialization, product owners).
- Lead and facilitate technical design reviews and decision-making.
- Coordinate with external partners or offshore development centers.
- Conduct technology watch on firmware, embedded systems, and IoT trends.
Your profile :Education & Experience :- Master’s degree in Electronics, Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
- Significant experience (5+ years) in firmware development and embedded architecture.
- Proven track record in designing complex or safety-critical embedded systems (Yocto, MCU/MPU, low-level development).
Technical Skills :- Strong command of embedded C/C++, Python).
- Solid understanding of microcontroller architectures.
- Strong knowledge of embedded communication protocols (MODBUS, CAN, Ethernet).
- Understanding of secure firmware principles (secure boot, OTA, cryptography).
- Proven track record in designing complex or safety-critical embedded systems (Yocto, MCU/MPU, low-level development).
