Sanofi Oncology is seeking to recruit a highly motivated scientist who will lead a single cell genomics group in Vitry. In this hands-on role the lead will focused on further developing and implementing single cell genomic technologies and applying them to our drug discovery efforts including target discovery and validation, understand the mechanism of action of novel drug candidates, and monitor patient’s response to investigational therapies. The role has the responsibility for data generation, assay optimization as well as working interactively with projects teams to initiate and to design experiments for both research and development projects.

SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSABILITIES

  • Responsibility for data generation, assay optimization as well as working interactively with projects teams to initiate and to design experiments for both research and development projects
  • Perform sequencing library preparation reactions including various QC steps, either manually or using high throughput liquid handling robots
  • Perform single-cell RNA-Sequencing including various QC steps, either manually or using high throughput liquid handling robots
  • Operate and maintain Illumina sequencing machines
  • Troubleshoot abnormal results with minimal oversight and feedback
  • Participate in development new genomic assays, including but not limited to NGS
  • Create and update standard operating protocols for laboratory-based methods
  • Enter experiment information into a laboratory notebook and LIMS system

Education and experience EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Educational requirements

  • Ph.D. degree in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, genetics, or related science field

Professional experience

  • A minimum of 8+ years pharmaceutical or biotech experience focused on oncology, immunology, or a related field
  • Direct experience with Illumina sequencing technologies is required including 4+ years of hands-on experience with Illumina library preparation methods – experience with single-cell RNA-sequencing a plus
  • Ability to work in GcLP environment
  • Excellent attention to details and dedication to excellence
  • Proven ability to work in a multidisciplinary, dynamic, and results-oriented environment
  • The position also requires an ability to communicate effectively to colleagues and staff across multi-disciplinary areas, while contributing to a high-quality and respectful work environment
  • A successful candidate is expected to have superior technical and operational skills and the proven ability to work on a variety of high-level, individual-contributor projects

SPECIFIC SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

The ideal candidate will be collaborative, self-directed and possess

  • Experience in developing or optimizing NGS assays is highly desired
  • Some bioinformatics analysis capability for sequencing analysis using tools or pipelining is a plus
  • Hands-on experience operating an automated liquid handling robot (e.g. Bravo)
  • Previous work in a clinical diagnostics laboratory
  • Experience in developing or optimizing FACS immunophenotyping assays is highly desired
