Company Mission

Payhawk is the leading global spend management solution for scaling businesses. Headquartered in London and combining company cards, reimbursable expenses and accounts payable into a single product; its future-facing technology enables finance teams to control and automate company spending at scale.

The Payhawk customer base includes fast-growing and mature multinational companies in 32 countries including LuxAir, Gtmhub, and Wagestream. With offices in New York, London, Berlin, Barcelona, Paris, Amsterdam and Sofia; Payhawk is backed by renowned investors such as Lightspeed Venture Partners, Greenoaks, QED Investors, Earlybird Digital East, and Eleven Ventures.

Our values include supporting flat hierarchies, taking ownership and responsibility, seeking and providing feedback, managing constructive critique, and speaking our minds. We understand that the best ideas don’t all come from the same place, so we encourage diversity and inclusion in all areas of our work.

The future of fintech is about more than money, and we believe in work-life balance, continual learning, and empowered teams. We’re also on a journey to improve our environmental and social impact and become B Corp certified. From virtual cards to digital subscriptions, our software and automation help take paper out of the equation for our customers, too.

We’re changing the world of payments, and we’re looking for an exceptional team to help us.

About the Role

We’re seeking a multidisciplinary design leader with extensive experience in marketing, branding, web UX/UI, and motion design. You and your team will be responsible for creating all of Payhawk’s on-screen and print marketing assets (excluding the design of the Payhawk platform) and elevating our visual designs to create unique and compelling experiences that support our brand goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple design projects from inception through to execution, ensuring they adhere to deadlines and meet project specifications.
  • Oversee the end-to-end design intake process and associated tooling, using data to drive iterative improvements to team efficiency.
  • Conduct research and testing of design assets to inform and refine design decisions. Where possible leverage analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of designs and employ data-driven strategies to optimize performance.
  • Lead the creation of engaging and impactful design assets
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to other designers, fostering an environment of learning and growth while enhancing their skills and contributions to the team.
  • Expand and continuously iterate on our design systems. Promote and implement design guidelines, best practices, and standards to ensure consistency and operational efficiency.
  • Present and justify design decisions, provide constructive feedback, and inspire fellow designers through thought leadership on design best practices and emerging trends.
  • Streamline processes and actively explore opportunities to integrate AI technologies to enhance team performance, reduce manual tasks, and improve overall efficiency and effectiveness in our design operations.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in Design and UX, continuously advancing our practices and tools to maintain cutting-edge standards.

Requirements:

  • Willing to work from our Sofia office
  • Fluent in English
  • At least 8 years of professional design experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Willing to get hands-on supporting Design tasks. We’re a small team, and so everyone needs to contribute.
  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates expertise in multidisciplinary design and UX/UI principles. In particular we’d like to see web content and motion graphics.
  • Proven experience with design systems, and managing large-scale websites.
  • Proficiency in graphic design disciplines, user research, interface design, user testing, and incorporating user feedback.
  • Expertise in using tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and other relevant design software.
  • Strong experience with content management systems like WordPress, Drupal, or similar platforms.
  • Adept at navigating and prioritising work in a rapidly changing startup environment.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and strategic/systematic thinking, with a keen understanding of how design influences user behaviour and business outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
  • Experience in B2B or SaaS environments is a plus.

Company Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package
  • Company-paid sports card

  • Flexible working hours and opportunity to work from home
