The position

Job description

As the VP Employer & Public Programs at OpenClassrooms, you will lead the Employers & Public Programs team. Your mission will be to develop our business activities in the public and private sectors by signing strategic contracts across our entire product catalog. You will be responsible for the growth of bookings and the acquisition of new clients while maintaining effective collaboration with other departments in the company.

YOUR MISSIONS:

Under your leadership, the Social Programs and Employers teams in France will drive the growth of bookings and the acquisition of new clients through the development of activities and a deep understanding of partnership opportunities between OpenClassrooms, businesses, funding bodies, and the public sector throughout France.

Your responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Structure and lead a business development team to cover both public and private sectors in France.

  • Develop and execute public affairs and government relations strategies that align with the company’s overall goals and objectives.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including elected officials, government agencies, public administrations, community organizations, and industry groups.

  • Monitor and analyze public policy issues that may impact the company and provide recommendations on how to respond.

  • Expand Social Program business:

    • Be accountable for Social Programs budget and revenue. 

    • Participate in the Education and Government procurement process through regional and national tenders and RFPs. Pay special attention to the next RFP that will be published by “France Travail” for 2024.

    • Expand our relationships and business opportunities with OPCOs.

    • Generate new opportunities by convincing funding bodies to move to online training.

  • Generate and qualify opportunities, securing sales with CAC40 and Top 150 French companies, as well as public organizations:

    • Develop the sales pipeline by engaging with key prospects and partners.

    • Respond to relevant tenders and consultations in line with OpenClassrooms’ activities.

    • Evaluate and communicate sales performance.

  • Develop a strategic business development plan targeting specific accounts and markets, ensuring alignment with OpenClassrooms’ strategic directions.

  • Execute the business development plan in collaboration with other teams (Enrollment, Customer Success, Learning, Product/Technology, Legal, Finance, Data…).

  • Create, enhance, and oversee all team systems, tools, and processes.

  • Represent the company in public forums, meetings, and hearings, and serve as the primary spokesperson for the company on public affairs issues.

  • Contribute to the evolution of the Education sector in France at the government and High Administration levels.

The Key Success Indicators for this position will be :

  • Total value of signed contracts and orders

  • Average contract signing time

  • Bookings and number of students

  • Market share

  • Number of new B2B and B2G clients

  • OpenClassrooms’ penetration rate in regional public markets

  • Prospect to client conversion rate

  • Customer retention rate

  • Perception of OpenClassrooms within public services

YOUR TEAM : 

You will report directly to our COO and spearhead a team composed of 16 professionals across France,  including Customer Support Managers and Sales Executives (B2G and B2B).  This pivotal role involves active engagement with a diverse array of stakeholders across all departments.


Preferred experience

  • Exceptional leadership skills with a proven track record in managing large teams (15+ people) with a focus on leading sales teams or sales departments.

  • In-depth knowledge of the Higher Education and Professional Training sector in France.

  • Versatile sales experience, including private, public, and nonprofit organizations.

  • Ability to discuss at all governmental levels within various institutions and associations - Elysée, Ministry, France Travail, DGEFP, OPCOs, regions, France Compétences, CNEFOP, Edtech…

  • Strong experience in the Public/Administration sector.

  • Outstanding ability to negotiate and navigate complex programs or contracts.

  • Excellent financial management skills.

  • Strong analytical and data-driven skills, demonstrating a proven ability to guide the team effectively through strategic insights.

  • Startup mindset – agile, results-focused, and innovative – driving growth and customer success in our dynamic environment.

  • Strong prioritization and process definition skills across teams, with a natural inclination for simplification and elimination of unnecessary tasks.

  • Fluent in both English and French (minimum C1 level for each language).

  • Peer  Interview (1 hour) to meet with David (VP Customer Success) and Florence (VP Public program)

  • Manager  Interview (1 hour) with Suzana Delanghe, COO.

  • Practical Case Study 

  • Team  Interview (45 mins): Virtual interview with two members of your future team

  • Final interview with Pierre Dubuc (CEO)
