Your day at NTT DATA

The Principal Specialist, Sustainability Data and Reporting is a senior role responsible for managing the existing and improving sustainability data reporting. This is a critical role to ensure compliance and opportunities to increasingly demanding legislation such as CSRD, CSDDD and the EU Taxonomy to ensure data accuracy, transparency and external rigour. This role is a senior contributor to the future sustainability strategy for the business, ensuring alignment with the highest global standards in environmental sustainability, with particular focus on GHG accounting and Net Zero transition

What you'll be doing

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement, execute, and design data collection strategies to deliver robust data with strong governance to meet timely deadlines.
  • Develop measures to identify the environmental impact of the organization's operations and ensure value-creating sustainability initiatives, especially focussed on GHG accounting.
  • Support the system owner for the company sustainability data management system.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of the internal sustainability data platform and data management processes, aiming for standardization, digitization, and automation of global data collection and reporting processes.
  • Support the company external assurance program covering carbon, water, energy, and other key sustainability metrics, including data and evidence collection and validation, contract management, tender selection, performance monitoring, and financial accountability.
  • Support the development and execution of the Sustainability data platform roadmap with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely Sustainability reporting, public disclosure, and collaboration with marketing to develop new sales collateral.
  • Contribute to development and implementation of the ESG improvement plan and support timely submission of EcoVadis, CSRD, CDP and UNGC COP disclosures.
  • Govern the impact measurement methodology for NTT DATA, Inc. products and services, working with external vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Analyse company performance against defined performance measures and provide detailed periodic reports to the Sustainability Committee.
  • Support the development of products and services that enhance net zero offers for clients by providing sustainability leadership and technical expertise.
  • Advise on best practices in GHG accounting and sustainability reporting.
  • Ensure the development and execution of Net Zero transition programs and conduct periodic program reviews to assess outcomes and effectiveness.
  • Provide coaching and leadership to a team of sustainability specialists and other stakeholders.
  • Stay abreast of relevant research and trends in focus, promoting best practices, especially in the area of GHG accounting and Net Zero transition.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in GHG emissions reporting and public disclosure frameworks (GHG Protocol, CDP, SBTi, CSRD, UNGC COP, EcoVadis), with external assurance expertise.
  • Proactive approach with confidence in Net Zero Transition and GHG accounting and the ability to facilitate business conversations and drive outcomes.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with complex sustainability data in a heavily regulated industry.
  • Excellent leadership skills and the ability to influence colleagues and key external stakeholders.
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues and external stakeholders across a global company.
  • Experience in understanding the links between business activity and sustainability impacts.
  • Experience in writing statutory reports and formulating and submitting data for regulators, shareholders, and investors.
  • Experience managing data systems to ensure high-quality data and understanding the impacts of external data publishing and commercial sensitivity.
  • Experience in verifying large quantities of environmental data and investigating anomalies.
  • Experience completing environmental, greenhouse gas, or sustainability external assurance audits.
  • Adaptability to work in various environments and across different geographies and timescales.
  • Proactive self-starter with the ability to operate with little supervision and tackle issues independently.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of the IT industry environment and business needs.
  • Exceptional project management, communication, PowerPoint, Excel, and presentation skills.

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Undergraduate degree and/or Masters in scientific, sustainability, or environment discipline.

Experience Required:

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar position in a global matrix organization.
  • Experience leading a portfolio of programs and projects through the full life cycle.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement experience at all levels in the organization, including C-suite.
  • Significant experience in corporate social responsibility or sustainability within a multinational organization.
  • Experience in driving complex multi-stakeholder planning processes and cross-team projects to desired results.
  • Experience managing relationships, networks, and teams that include diverse groups of people from public and private sectors, community-based organizations, non-profits, and civic leaders.
  • Experience building and leading high-performance teams.
  • Experience with internal and/ or external audit.
