We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated plant in vitro culture and transgenesis expert to join our R&D team and lead our plant platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in plant tissue culture techniques and transformation methods, as well as experience leading a team. You will be responsible for overseeing the creation and characterization of all our enhanced plant lines. You will need to have excellent scientific background and rigor, as well as leadership skills. From day 1 you will work on crucial topics to achieve results within very aggressive timelines. Your work will impact all future Neoplants products, and thus will be instrumental in achieving our long-term vision.

Main scope of position (but not limited to):

• Form and lead the plant platform of Neoplants

• Manage a team of 4-6 engineers and technicians

• Lead the recruitment of future talents in the team as it grows

• Oversee the in vitro culture, transformation, regeneration, genotyping and characterisation of all our plant lines

• Follow the latest innovations in the field to optimize and improve upon our current SOP

• Suggest and implement organizational changes to maximize the team’s impact

• Work with our head of product and the broader business team on various production topics

• Ensure the timely delivery of our tissue cultures to our production partners

• Advise the founders and leadership team on strategic topics

Required:

• PhD + 5 years of working experience in plant science, plant molecular biology or plant biotechnology

• Extensive experience in plant in-vitro tissue culture and transformation of non- model plants

• Expertise in plant molecular biology, plant cell biology and plant physiology

• Strong industry experience in team management

• Proven leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills

• Very strong team spirit

• Proactive and action-driven mindset

• Extreme scientific rigor and attention to details

• Proficiency in English

Nice to have:

• Work experience in a startup

• Technical experience with monocots plants

• Expertise in CRISPR-Cas9 mediated plant genetic editing
