SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Header Specialist individual maximizes advance technical and skill knowledge efficiency through the operation process of various header machines for the manufacture of all types of bolts and special products launch for new or revised products. Disassembles, rebuilds and aligns Multi-Die Heading machinery, tools and equipment. Designs and fabricates new advanced technology equipment from concept to finish complete and test. Effectively processes methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Acts as a liaison between supervisor and general machinists
• Assigns jobs and machines to operators, monitors technique, quality and quantity of production, troubleshoots and assists operators with machining problems.
• Independently performs sets-up, operates and maintains 2 or more header machines according to detail blueprints, specifications, work orders and instructions. Selects and obtains proper material and tooling for the job. Checks tooling and has rework performed as needed to manufacture part to print specification.
• Productivity on both machines (which run concurrently) is consistently maintained at performance standards associated with daily, weekly and monthly KPI’s.
• Maintains correct dimensions of parts while running the job using measuring instruments such as micrometers, comparators, calipers, and gauges, inspects completed parts to ensure they meet blueprints/specifications.
• Assist department leads in the development of lesser skilled operators to improve production efficiencies.
• As necessary, reports any machine maintenance issues to lead person or supervisor.
• Assists supervisor in assigning and scheduling work to operators and machinists.
• Assists supervisor in monitoring tooling, materials, quality concerns and production.
• Represents Factory/Department manufacturing on cross-functional teams, safety committees or other in-house committees.
• Reports any discrepancies, safety violation, machining equipment misusage and/or improperly performed work to supervisor, may provide input for action including discipline and firing.
• Proceeds with completion of job, observing machine frequently to verify correct operation and ensure that the hopper is properly loaded.
• Recognizes improper machine functioning and makes required adjustments.
• Able to identify, perform and troubleshoot heading operations in manufacturing for improved quality and tooling life.
• Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams.
• Conduct peer development training per established departmental requirements.
• Provide daily direction, training, development, and assessment for assigned peer. Assessment will include documentation of curriculum summary, skill level achieved, further development recommendations and / or competencies not achieved during the development period.
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
• Demonstrated advanced technical knowledge and experience in reading and interpreting blueprints and use shop and measuring tools.
• Demonstrated ability to perform Statistical Process Control (SPC) checks per specification, Master cam (CAM software) if applicable and acts in accordance with output and demonstrates knowledge and use of Shop Floor Systems.
• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
• Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Works under limited supervision with a wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.
• Able to identify manufacturing machinery problems and recommends solutions.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education and/or Experience
• High School Diploma or GED
• Working experience in fastener manufacturing environment
• Advance knowledge of heading machinery and procedures
• Working knowledge with quality and SPC.
• A minimum of 8 years equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend correspondence and basic technical procedures. Ability to write basic reports and instructions to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts and calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios and standard units of measurements.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and follow instructions in written and basic diagram formats. Ability to perform and apply different problem solving techniques, handle internal/external situations and multi-task functions.
