Our department

The Synthesio R&D department is focused on data provisioning, enrichment and exploitation.
We crawl 70M posts each day from a plethora of social networks and mainstream press websites. Each document is then analysed and enriched using custom NLP and image recognition models developed by our data scientists. All this data is stored in our databases (1 PB+ ElasticSearch, 750TB+ MySQL clusters, 50 TB+ ScyllaDB) and can be accessed by our customers via our dashboarding solution.

Mission

• Drive high-level algorithm decisions to improve our existing NLP and Computer Vision models such as sentiment analysis, named entity recognition, topic modeling, logo recognition, and scene recognition.
• Design and implement state-of-the-art NLP and Computer Vision algorithms to support new product features.
• Work closely with the data engineering team to set up scalable and production-ready model inference pipelines.
• Work closely with the product team to help define data science features that would be useful to our customers.

Technical skills

• Solid understanding of machine learning and deep learning
• Solid understanding of the fundamentals of algorithms and data structures
• Proficiency in Python and openness to learning Go
• Familiarity with the essential machine learning toolkit (scikit-learn, PyTorch, Tensorflow, Keras, etc.)
• Experience with deep learning for NLP or Computer Vision is appreciated
