The position

Job description

We are looking for a highly skilled Lead Backend Engineer. This is a unique opportunity to join Catalog as the first lead backend engineer and have a huge impact on the product and the technical stack.

You will work closely with our CTO Maxime and the front lead.

You are a technical leader at heart and will support the overall decision-making process as well as the company’s sustained growth.

As Lead Backend Engineer you will:

  • Build our technical stack and ensure software security & reliability
  • Manage the CICD, the cloud infrastructure, the databases and the monitoring system
  • Work hand-in-hand with Maxime & Julien on the product strategy, measure the effort of the various features, anticipate and evaluate the structuring technical choices
  • Develop, deploy and maintain new features
  • You build it, you run it !
  • Ensure code review and knowledge sharing across the team
  • Hire, mentor, and manage a tech team, to allow them to grow and give their full potential
  • Data and IT architecture will have to functionally and technically scale.

Tech Stack

  • Tools: Monorepo (Nx), Github, Copilote etc.
  • App: Next.JS, React, Apollo GraphQL, TypeScript, tailwind
  • API&DB: nodeJS, GraphQL (Nexus), PostgreSQL, Redis, Prisma
  • Cloud: AWS, Amplify, Beanstalk, terraform
  • Testing: Cypress, Jest

Preferred experience

  • You have 7+ years of software engineer experience on full-stack web apps.
  • Experience in managing tech teams.
  • Interest: You have a genuine interest in e-commerce
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: you thrive in fast-paced environments where you have broad responsibilities
  • Ownership mentality: you are a doer and have a bias for action, no task is below you
  • Organization skills: you know how to prioritize and split your tasks efficiently
  • Team player: you enjoy sharing and learning from each other
  • Initiative and innovation: you don’t hesitate to challenge and suggest new practices
  • Product lover: you fully understand what we want to bring to our users, and you are eager to deliver the best possible UX to them
  • Abstraction ability: you are able to step back and rethink our model globally
  • Strong attention to details: code quality is important for you and you set a high bar.
