Over the last 10 years, Hello Tomorrow has created the largest deep tech network, developed strong sector expertise and built a thriving consulting practice.

We are now starting our next chapter: a VC practice to co-invest in the most promising deep tech startups, alongside VCs from our network who can lead at (pre)seed stage. The first step is the creation of a micro-investment vehicle of ~5 M€.

We are looking for someone to co-manage it with Hello Tomorrow’s CEO, with the opportunity to quickly become a Partner, and then be a General Partner of fund II in two years.

You will work alongside Hello Tomorrow’s CEO to launch our first investment vehicle and increase our visibility (positioning) as a deep tech investor. In the longer term, we are looking for a Managing Partner to be in charge of this highly promising and strategic practice.

You will manage the investment process, from assessing investment opportunities to closing deals. You will be in charge of ~half of the deals (the other half will be done by our CEO). Fundraising and most of the synergies with the rest of Hello Tomorrow will be handled by our CEO, at least during the first year.

Your mission will include:

Developing strong relationships with VCs with whom Hello Tomorrow will co-invest

● Understand their investment thesis and personal preferences

● Share relevant deal flow and investment memos

● Proactively reach out to remain up to date about new focus, potential deals, etc.

● Build long-term relationships based on trust and mutual value creation

Evaluating investment opportunities coming from Hello Tomorrow’s deal flow or co-investors

Hello Tomorrow evaluates 4,000 startups every year, so you will start with startups that are prequalified and will have confirmed their interest to raise money from us

● Look at startups’ standard applications to the Hello Tomorrow Challenge and pitch decks, from an investor point of view

● Conduct meetings with the founding teams

● Conduct expert interviews when needed

● Produce investment memos to share with co-investors who could lead

● Support lead VCs in the due diligence process, leveraging experts from the Hello Tomorrow network

Following up the deal-making process

● Review term sheets and other investment documents

● Prepare investment memos for the Investment Committee

Supporting our portfolio startups’ development

● Take a Board observer seat whenever it makes sense

● Stay up to date with startups’ challenges and needs, and leverage Hello Tomorrow’s capabilities to support their development

Managing the back-office

● Track all investments done and keep their valuation up to date

● Archive all documents related to the portfolio companies

● Prepare quarterly reports to be sent to the investors

Producing strategic content & thought leadership

● Perform analysis of investment trends, GP-LP value creation model, etc., leveraging Hello Tomorrow’s data, external data, surveys and interviews

● Leverage those analyses to feed our own investment thesis as well as produce content to support

Hello Tomorrow’s thought leadership in deep tech, especially regarding topics related to investment and early-stage startups development

Career development perspectives with the “Fund II”

The goal of the first investment vehicle is also to pave the way for another bigger one. Once a good part of the capital of the first one is deployed (after one year), you will then work with our CEO on the fundraising for Fund II.

This position is designed to prepare you to be a General Partner for Fund II, so if things go as planned this should be your future role.

Successful candidates don’t need to have significant investment experience, but they should be able to build good relationships with senior co-investors and startup founders, and quickly learn about technology developments, impacted industries, and investment dynamics.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• At least 8 years of professional experience, which include dealing with external partners or clients at senior/executive level.

• You successfully convinced and built relationships with stakeholders at senior/executive level (sales, partnerships, etc.).

• You produced content based on your own analysis (consulting, market research, investment memos, etc.).

• You have a technical, scientific or engineering background (or have a good understanding and strong interest in technical subjects, from past experiences).

• Previous experience in tech/deep tech startups, VCs or incubator/accelerator would be a plus!
