We are looking for a Product Development Manager who will be in charge of consumer tissue brands for France, Belgium (Lotus and Okay) and Italy (Tempo).

About the Role

Attached to the SouthWest Marketing Director and in charge of a team of 3 people, you will be responsible for developing and/or upgrading products to answer to consumer needs & business goals.

You will be a key link between marketing & factory teams as a technical expert of our brands & products.

What You Will Do

• Develop new or existing products as product expert in innovation projects and other product related activities, such as value engineering or quality improvements.
• Participate in project/activities can be of different levels - as consultant or as project team member.
• Translate consumer needs to product functions and further to product design parameters/technical solutions.
• Evaluate and validate new product solutions in all relevant aspects, such as consumer acceptance, product functionality, product cost, manufacturability, patent situation and product safety.
• Establish product specifications, incl. quality specification with relevant targets, methods and tolerances.
• Build and maintain a broad and deep competence and knowledge in relevant technical area(s) in terms of Essity and competitor products, patents, technologies and materials as well as market and industry trends.
• Actively provide the team and the organisation with knowledge, news and resultspertaining to the competence area.
• Participate in assigned patent and competitor watch teams.
• Drive or Participate in basic R&D projects to deliver on the R&D platforms and improve state of readiness for future Innovation projects.
• Represent own area as product expert and advisor to projects and colleagues
• Keep an updated gap analysis (performance & cost) on Essity vs. competitor products within own area.

Who You Are

• University Degree or equivalent in Science, Engineering or a related field
• Minimum of 10 years work experience in product development, preferably in consumer goods industry
• Experience on tissue categories such as bathroom tissue, household tools and hankies & facials (product development, innovation, converting, papermaking operations) is an advantage
• Strong leadership and collaboration capabilities
• French and english speaker
