We are looking for an engineer with a strong background in mechanical engineering. You will engineer new technical solutions in a small, interdisciplinary team for microfluidics instrumentation development and be open to learning in all areas within your reach.
Your missions will be the following:
Iterative design and fabrication of instrument prototypes. These prototypes will progressively add functionality and performance toward a commercializable product. Work will include:
3D CAD design in SolidWorks and 3D printing (FDM and SLA printing)
Work in collaboration with suppliers for other manufacturing techniques (e.g. machining, molding, and laser cutting)
Run prototype instrument verification tests by performing microfluidic experiments, data gathering and analysis in order to inform further design choices and come up with new ideas to diagnose and solve the unforeseen problems with the instrument
Benchmark developed prototypes against competitor technologies
Develop a dedicated instrument performance test bench for characterization of prototype performance specifications
Coordination with external collaborators for instrument beta testing (organization, installment, user experience data collection)
Write and present technical summaries and protocols of the instrument developments to colleagues and outside partners
You have an engineering degree and a PhD related to mechanical engineering(all fields are suitable, e.g. mechanical, mechatronics, robotics) and you are ready to work on a multidisciplinary project. You also are/have:
Proficient in using 3D CAD softwares (e.g. SolidWorks, Fusion 360, etc.)
Strong understanding and practical experience in mechanical manufacturing techniques, most importantly 3D printing
Experience with computational fluid dynamics software (COMSOL, Fluent, etc.)
Hands on experience with mechanical fabrication of complex assemblies
You feel comfortable in an international environment and are confident to work independently
Ideally, you also have some:
At Elvesys, we like: People of action, creative people, autonomous people, curious people, team players. People who do more than talk, people who are demanding of themselves but who take care of those around them. Those who question themselves, those who want an intense and contrasting life, those who bring pastries for the team.
