The position

Job description

Reporting to the Head of Communications and Public Affairs Italy & Belgium, you will play an important and leading role in helping Deliveroo protect and build its reputation.

You will have an interest in the media, government and current affairs, and enjoy working across communications and public affairs day-to-day.

This is not a position for a marketing professional, nor a social media manager.

What you’ll do:

  • creation of positive press releases on corporate and consumers comms, creative partnerships and campaigns, focused on the most important areas of business and policy - e.g. announcement, new tech features, CSR and ESG programmes;

  • direct engagement with journalists to spread the news and ensure good coverage;

  • definition of a structured quarterly plan;

  • handling of incoming media queries from the national print and broadcast media;

  • identify new and interesting opportunities for Deliveroo to build its corporate reputation in the national and local and trade media;

  • build and consolidate relationships with a network of journalists;

  • coordinating with the relevant internal teams: the international Comms and PA team, and the Italian teams including marketing, operations and sales;

  • create high-quality briefing materials to support the GM, Management Team and the rest of the Italian Team with media interviews and meetings, and all corporate-related internal briefing documents;

  • working with and leading an external agency to get support on your job;

  • identification and activation of vendors to support on specific projects, including CSR and ESG;

  • management of all the administrative activities related to the agency and vendors.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in corporate PR (in-house/agency, companies, government) with c. 10 years of experience (at least 5).

  • Experience in institutional context (e.g. Parliament, Government or a related organisation as leading think tank) will be a plus.

  • An in-depth understanding of the Italian media and political landscape with an excellent antenna for successful stories.

  • A clear understanding of the food delivery industry, platforms business model, comms opportunities and risks. 

  • A track-record of landing positive corporate and consumer coverage in the national and regional media.

  • You will be comfortable in communicating complex and sensitive policy issues to multiple senior partners and national media.

  • Ability to navigate across complex organisations dealing with uncertainty and frequent changes.

  • Cooperative attitude with colleagues working in different departments and different markets. 

  • An existing and active network of media contacts useful for your  role.

  • Experience in managing agencies and vendors.

  • Fluent in Italian and English. n to complete
