What You’ll Do
As a Principal Customer Engineer, you’ll serve as a trusted technical advisor to our most strategic customers, guiding them through the successful integration, optimization, and evolution of our bot management platform. You’ll lead by example—diving deep into traffic data, network flows, and complex integrations to help customers defend against automated threats while shaping product direction and scaling technical best practices across the organization.
This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who thrives on solving hard problems, owning critical customer relationships, and driving technical excellence across teams.
🛠 Hands-On Technical Leadership
- Serve as the go-to technical expert for large-scale, complex customer environments, owning post-sale integration success and long-term stability.
- Partner closely with customer engineering, security, and DevOps teams to implement scalable bot & fraud mitigation strategies in diverse infrastructures (CDNs, WAFs, cloud-native environments, etc.).
- Provide deep technical guidance across mobile, web, and API protection use cases, ensuring robust, low-latency deployment architectures.
⚙️ Integration Expertise & Engineering Problem solving
- Lead architectural and implementation discussions with customer stakeholders, from network security engineers to application developers.
- Diagnose and resolve high-impact challenges across JavaScript injection, SDK instrumentation and integration into web or network components.
- Troubleshoot complex issues with traffic logs, and observability platforms.
- Design and deliver tailored implementation plans and integration templates to enable rapid, secure deployment and updates.
📊 Traffic Analysis & Threat Insights
- Analyze customer traffic, bot behavior patterns, and threat vectors to provide recommendations that reduce false positives and increase detection accuracy.
- Collaborate with internal SOC and product teams to tune detection models based on real-world signals.
- Create threat reports and technical summaries that demonstrate protection efficacy and business value to customer stakeholders.
🤝 Customer Advocacy & Technical Advisory
- Act as a voice of the customer in cross-functional forums, influencing roadmap and feature prioritization based on field insights.
- Assist Customer Success and Sales in identifying and executing on technical opportunities for expansion
- Deliver clear, compelling technical narratives that align with customer business goals and security strategies.
- Serve DataDome as a public Ambassador
📚 Enablement & Internal Impact
- Feed the Enablement team and product with technical insights from the field.
- Mentor other customer-facing engineers, sharing deep domain knowledge and best practices across the team.
- Identify and propose process improvements, tooling enhancements, and automation opportunities to improve customer engineering velocity.
It would be great if you have :
- 10+ years experience with web application architectures, including mobile, web, and API layers
- Deep integration skills across mobile, web, and network layers
- Proven success in enterprise-scale integrations or solution engineering.
- Comfortable operating at the intersection of security, DevOps, and customer advocacy.
- Strong technical communication, advisory, and mentoring abilities
- Expertise web/app/API security, or fraud prevention
- Proficiency in traffic analysis (Data viz tools), scripting (Python/JS), or observability tools (grafana, prometheus, etc.).
