Job description

About the Group/TeamCanva’s journey in the Czech Republic began with the game-changing acquisition of Liberec-founded Smartmockups in 2021. This strategic move enabled us to leverage our expertise in standalone products and dive into the development of innovative product visualization features with the goal of bringing mockups to millions of Canva users worldwide.

In the Czech Republic, our dedicated team of 40 talented Canvanauts is diligently leading the creation of cutting-edge mockup products. In addition, we're actively engaged in many other magic projects, keeping our innovative spirit alive.

While our team may be relatively small, we have a tremendous impact on the global stage, reaching hundreds of millions of users worldwide. Collaborating closely with Canvanauts in offices across Europe, Australia, the Philippines, and China, we work tirelessly to provide the best possible design solutions to our diverse and ever-growing user base.

Join us at Canva and experience the power of creativity, innovation, and global collaboration firsthand. Together, we're empowering the world to design. 💪

About the Role/SpecialtyAs a Program Manager within our Mockups group, you will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of content such as photos, videos, templates or 3D renders and animations. As part of our vibrant and friendly creative teams, you'll be working with our talented designers and content creators while synchronizing with our Product Managers and Engineers across the globe. You'll be an integral part of this huge relationship as you organize the creative elements and manage timelines and relationships to deliver extraordinary work.

What you’ll do (responsibilities)

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Owning Photoshoots: You will ensure our photoshoots are executed flawlessly, on time and within budget. This involves coordinating with art director, design ops, Print ops, processing, and photographer to clarify roles and timelines, managing schedules and budgets, and maintaining clear communication across teams. Your organizational skills will navigate challenges to keep each shoot aligned with our brand's high standards.
  • Facilitate Collaboration in Content Strategy: Foster a collaborative atmosphere to refine our Content Strategy operations. You're tasked with orchestrating operational frameworks and cadences that align with our goals, working closely with teams organization-wide to refine processes and innovate. Facilitating meetings with engaging agendas, you promote open communication and collective problem-solving, leveraging the diverse strengths and ideas of our team as Canva grows.
  • Communicate Effectively to Support Teams: Ensure all aspects of the Content Strategy are harmonious, adhering to best practices for communication and documentation. Anticipate and address concerns early, liaising with stakeholders to resolve any issues promptly.
  • Drive Initiatives Forward: Collaborate with leads and teams to keep seasonal goals on track, coordinating timelines, milestones and monitoring progress. Identify and call out issues as needed, breaking down large initiatives into manageable tasks for effective tracking and execution.
  • Act as the Team's Glue: Coordinate events and celebrations across the strategy, ensuring team efforts are recognized and celebrated. Your role is key in pulling together events that highlight the team’s hard work and celebrate achievements, particularly when we hit those Crazy Big Goals.
  • Forecast and Anticipate Opportunities: In collaboration with the Mockups Leadership, identify and prepare for emerging opportunities, strategizing preemptively. As a major connector, you'll facilitate continuous team improvement and innovation.
  • Support Content Leads: Work closely with Mockups Leadership on a variety of projects that may evolve into group goals. Your strategic partnership on these projects is invaluable, helping to shape the direction and success of our Content Strategy.

Preferred experience

What we're looking for

  • You have proven experience in a Program or Project Management role, or similar within the start/scale-up content creation/ design environment, and ideally have had experience working with product, engineering, and design teams
  • You have experience in cross-functional delivery, and have built an understanding of how large programs of work can come together to deliver a roadmap of work.
  • You can bridge strategy and operations. This role will be execution focused, but a successful candidate will be able to understand the overarching strategy and decipher what needs to happen within the strategy to help execute the work, day to day.
  • You collaborate with ease - You’ll be able to understand the complexity of working with multiple collaborators with different needs. You will be the point of contact for the team, collaborating closely with various partners across the organization to clarify briefs, set shared expectations, lead goals and timelines as well as identify future opportunities for collaboration.
  • You have the ability to manage and track multiple projects simultaneously and are able to work autonomously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • You have a unique skill to move projects from chaos to clarity - We receive briefs in all shapes and sizes, from rough ideas to more well-thought-out complex problems. You’ll be identifying the program/project scope, clarifying outcomes, anticipating needs, understanding timelines, leading across teams, resourcing, and goals, all to steer the team to move in the same direction, forward.
  • You are able to build relationships and rapport fast and constantly expand your internal networks
  • You communicate complexity, effectively - You strive for clarity and alignment, and have a gift for presenting complex ideas visually. You are comfortable making hypotheses by drawing usable insights from data and are able to lead with logic when making recommendations.
  • You can identify problems with the quality of the content. It’s important you adopt an owner’s mindset. As a program manager, you are not directly responsible for the quality of the product, however, you are an important stakeholder in the process and you should flag any issues you see early on to the relevant people.
