The headquarters of the AXA Group (GIE AXA) brings together our corporate activities. It provides guidance and support to subsidiaries around the world, to ensure the coordination and monitoring of the Group's global strategy, the application of its standards, the consistency of commercial approaches and the sharing of best practices. Within AXA, you will join the Group Controlling department, which is responsible for performance monitoring within the Group (FP&A activities). Its objective is to coordinate a regular dialogue with the entities in order to deliver information on the financial, operational and strategic performance of the entities to the AXA Group Management Committee (ExCom).

Group Controlling consists of 4 Regional Heads (or Head of Poles) based in Paris, under the supervision of the Head of Group Controlling. Each Head of Pole works with a team of Senior Analysts and Analysts.

Within this Department, you will be part of the European Markets team, which includes AXA’s activities in Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain, Switzerland and the UK. Group Controlling works in close collaboration with local top Management (CEOs, CFOs, Heads of Controlling) and Group central functions (Corporate Finance, Accounting, Strategy, Risk Management, Investor Relations etc.).

As part of the team, you will have the opportunity to:

The main mission of the Senior Analyst is to assist the Head of European Markets in monitoring the Markets (example for European Markets: Germany, Switzerland, UK & Ireland, Belgium, Italy and Spain) he/she is in charge of for the Group Management Committee with the objective of informing key stakeholders of the performance of the entities on a monthly basis, provide relevant recommendations to improve business performance and monitor the implementation of strategic decisions.

Therefore, the Senior Analyst is expected to:

  • Participate to the preparation of the monthly reporting covering financial and non-financial performance indicators;
  • Provide regular updates on business performance and budget execution;
  • Participate to forecasting, financial planning and budgeting processes;
  • Coordinate dialogue with entities on financial and strategic matters (including budget, forecast and Strategic Plan submissions)
  • Coordinate and deliver ad hoc analyses (e.g., benchmarking, deep-dives into business / financial topics, non-financial KPIs analysis, etc.)

The main activities of the Senior Analyst are to:

  • Organize and supervise the production of the monthly reporting provided by the entities as well as assist the entities in delivering the information if required; Building a strong relationship with senior/executive management member will be a must to be able to understand in details the business specificities and challenges that will have to be reported to the Group Management Committee;
  • Take the ownership of one or several transversal process of the team (e.g., budget preparation, strategic plan, STIC assessment, target setting): lead the process within the team, coordinate with interactions with the key stakeholders and lead the deliverables preparation (e.g., MC presentation)
  • Analyse and challenge the financial and business information reported by the entities;
  • Identify and report the risks and uncertainties that could materially impact the results of the entities / Group;
  • Participate to the discussions and decisions which will have a financial impact for the Group notably forecasting and target setting;
  • Develop market and competitive intelligence;
  • Contribute to the Single Point of Truth mission of BSID by ensuring the reliability of financial and non-financial data on entities which will be shared with other teams;
  • Contribute to strategic projects that will arise from time to time;
  • Proactively support the implementation of the new operating model.

The Senior Analyst must ensure an effective and smooth coordination and communication with the entities and other central functions.

Preferred experience

The candidate is expected to demonstrate solid business acumen. He/she should have a strong financial background but also have the capacity to understand and challenge the strategy of the entities, explore new business opportunities and contribute to improving the performance of the entities.

Technical and professional skills:

  • At least 8 - 10 years’ experience in the financial services industry
  • Good understanding of the insurance industry (Life, Protection, Health P&C, assets & liabilities, reinsurance)
  • Good understanding of finance and reporting principles, notably accounting and consolidation principles / standards and actuarial practices
  • Experience in project management requiring considerable collaboration in an international corporate setting
  • Strong business and strategic sense
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to represent the Group in front of operating companies
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Fluent in English. French is not necessary but would be a strong plus.

Soft skills and competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (writing / speaking)
  • Ability to a work in a multicultural environment with people with diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Ability to organize effectively and work under pressure, remaining effective at all times whilst maintaining excellent attention to quality
  • Ability to take initiatives
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior management (e.g. Entity Executive Committee members)
  • Ability to build own flow of information at various levels (CFOs and their teams, Group departments)
  • Ability to convince and challenge senior business correspondents both at entity and Group level
  • Ability to organise, analyse and summarise
  • Ability to present in a synthetic and clear way the work results
  • Ability to master short and long deadlines in parallel with non-hierarchical interlocutors
