Parametric Underwriter - Americas

Join our Americas insurance team as a Parametric Underwriter. A master's degree in data science, statistics, applied mathematics, or equivalent, along with 5 years of experience in insurance/reinsurance or climate-management related industries, is required.

Key Responsibilities within the Americas insurance team

Risk Assessment & Portfolio Management

  • Structure and price weather-related parametric products for US and Latin American clients (tropical cyclones, wildfires, drought, hail, tornados, flood, etc.).:

    • Design trigger mechanisms and payout structures adapted to clients needs

    • Develop models and enhance the understanding of the underlying index

    • Provide quantitative and qualitative risk assessment of the perils

  • Establish and ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines to ensure consistency and compliance with risk appetite, compliance standards, internal governance framework and legal requirements.

  • Manage and monitor risk accumulation by peril and geographic region. Identify large deals and collaborate with reinsurance partners to secure necessary capacity.

Product Development & Innovation

  • Support business developers in their mission to grow the pipeline and identify new opportunities for parametric solutions.

  • Design and customize new parametric products, collaborating with pricing, underwriting and legal teams.

  • Integrate technology and data to enhance modeling, underwriting efficiency and to automate the quoting process for selected brokers.

Market Engagement & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Serve as a key technical contact for business developers and brokers, explaining complex parametric concepts.

  • Champion product adoption by helping create educational materials and conducting workshops for internal teams and external partners.

  • Support negotiations for complex deals, ensuring favorable terms and long-term partnerships with brokers and clients.


Preferred experience

Masters’ degree in data science, statistics, applied mathematics or equivalent.

5 year-experience in insurance/reinsurance (including broking) or climate-management related industries (including agribusiness, weather/energy)
