Job description

Position: Technical Lead

Location: Renaissance House, Warrington

Work Pattern: Hybrid role with a mix of remote and site/office-based work.

Please note this requirement can be worked on either a contract basis (inside IR35) or on a permanent basis

NUVIA UK's Technical Services & Consulting department is fast growing with hybrid opportunities available up and down the country. We're striving to create a multidisciplinary team to offer our clients the best range of talent.

The Technical Lead, reporting to the Head of Future Engineering Capability, will support the development of the client's Engineering and Technical Capability across Integrated Project Team. Acknowledging the intent for the client to remain a thin but intelligent and capable client, a structured approach to in-house technical capability, supported by a well-defined delivery supply chain is required. This will be delivered by implementing a structured approach to capability development, supporting the Engineering Delivery Strategy – that approach needs to meet the technical and commercial requirements of the programme, as well as satisfy the inbound expectations of external stakeholders relating to e.g. a nuclear site licence and ISO accreditations. The Technical Lead will therefore develop and implement planned activities to develop a controlled, always-improving understanding of the demand and supply of competence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing support to the Head of Future Engineering Capability and the Engineering Capability Lead in implementing plans to deliver capability development across the Technical Function.
  • Preparing and reviewing technical documentation (such as technical specifications, technical plans and strategies etc) in support of major procurements and capability development activities.
  • Working closely with the engineering leads across the technical team to identify the scope of activities that will be delivered by each of the Partners.
  • Collaborating with other programme functions to represent the engineering and technical interest in all procurement, commercial and organisational design activities.
  • This role is not identified as likely to be included in a future LC36 Nuclear Baseline because it does not have the potential to impact Safety/Security/Nuclear Safeguards/Environmental Management/Long Lead Items.

Preferred experience

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:

  • Prior experience of engineering and technical project delivery in a highly regulated industry, preferably nuclear
  • A strategic mindset and the ability to define and implement tactical solutions
  • An understanding of technical concepts, principles, and terminology relevant to the nuclear industry
  • Demonstrate familiarity with nuclear industry regulations, standards, and technical documentation best practices
  • Good writing and editing skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information in a clear, accurate, and accessible manner
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to producing error-free documentation that meets industry standards
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Member of a relevant technical institution
  • Must be able to obtain UK Security Clearance
