 Safety Case Consultant

  • Location: Milton Park, Abingdon
  •  Permanent only
  • £40,000 - £50,000 (depending on experience)

 

NUVIA is growing its consultancy business unit and is looking for capable professionals to join the safety case team. The role will entail working alongside our customers or supporting our internal engineering department, on a range of nuclear technology, defence and decommissioning projects. You will spend your time split between working at home, our offices and visiting customer sites subject to project requirements.

 

Please note that NUVIA are actively exploring opportunities to work with Australian colleagues and hence would welcome enquiries from candidates who would be interested in working in Australia for a period of time.

 

You will report to a Managing Consultant, with development and project delivery support also provided by Principal Safety Case Consultants. We are looking for motivated individuals who wish to gain responsibility for their own independent delivery, while benefiting from the development and advancement opportunities of working in a consultancy environment.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the delivery of safety assessments for a wide range of nuclear facilities and operations, in conjunction with Senior and Principal Safety Case Consultants
  • Produce high quality safety case documentation
  • Support hazard identification studies and undertake HAZOP secretary duties
  • Participate in interdisciplinary project teams
  • Contribute to design reviews and engineering substantiation
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and clients
  • Participate in the tendering process
  • Develop independent practitioner level of competence in specialist technical topics
  • Champion effective safety culture

Preferred experience

Essential

  • Degree qualified in a scientific, technical or engineering subject, or equivalent experience
  • Previous industry experience in Safety Case working in a highly regulated industry
  • Contributions to safety justifications, safety assessment reports or safety case reports subject to rigorous quality assurance standards
  • Practitioner of several hazard identification and safety assessment techniques, with appropriate supervision
  • Understanding of the purpose and content of safety cases
  • Quantitative understanding of risk and reliability
