A vacancy has arisen for a Principal Mechanical Stress Consultant within the Analysis Team based at our Risley, Warrington office.

 

As part of the role you will be delivering finite element solutions and hand calculations to support design and design verification projects for internal and external clients. This will rely on frequent interaction with engineers of other disciplines internally and externally.

 

Key responsibilities as the Principal Stress Engineer:

Working in the Nuvia Analysis Team you will be responsible for,

  • Carrying out FE analysis and hand calculations for consultancy projects as part of a wider team.
  • Writing analysis reports as well plans and quotations for future work.
  • Checking of analysis deliverables authored by others and providing related guidance.
  • Absorbing all customer technical and project requirements and Nuvia quality procedures.
  • To act as the technical interface with all relevant stakeholders (delivery and advisory capacity). The Principal Consultant would expect to be customer-facing when required and provide technical leadership commensurate with their expertise.
  • Ensure tasks are carried out to the required scope and budget constraints.

Preferred experience

Occupational Skills and Knowledge

  • Degree qualified in a relevant technical / engineering discipline or demonstrable experience,
  • Working towards, or already have, Chartership in a discipline-specific engineering institution.

Essential

  • Experience in hand and FEA calculations, preferable LS-DYNA and ANSYS
  • Ability to engage well with customers and stakeholders, absorbing and shaping requirements
  • A degree or equivalent in an appropriate engineering discipline
  • Strong understanding of the fundamentals and Industry Standards within your engineering discipline
  • Previous experience of working within the nuclear industry
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Good level of commercial awareness and drive towards project success.

Desirable

  • CEng / Member of a relevant institution (IMechE or IET).
