The Interior Structure Project Engineer supports construction delivery by coordinating engineering activities, technical documents, planning, and field support. The role acts as the link between design, field teams, subcontractors, and project management to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with project requirements, schedule, and budget.
Responsibilities include technical oversight, problem‑solving, production tracking, design coordination, and preparing key project documentation.
PRINCIPAL/ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Compliance
- Promote compliance with HSE policies and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in safety meetings, risk assessments, and method statement reviews.
- Report hazards and actively support continuous improvement of site safety.
Engineering & Technical Coordination
- Review, interpret, and clarify construction drawings, technical specifications, and contract requirements.
- Coordinate design queries, RFIs, and change requests with designers and consultants.
- Ensure technical compliance of materials, methods, and installation procedures.
- Support constructability reviews and propose technical solutions to field challenges.
Planning & Scheduling
- Assist in developing and updating the project schedule (overall and detailed look‑ahead).
- Identify critical path items and interface constraints.
- Coordinate planned activities with field teams to optimize sequencing and productivity.
Field Support & Execution Oversight
- Provide technical guidance to Superintendents and Field Engineers.
- Monitor progress, quantities, productivity rates, and performance indicators.
- Participate in resolving site issues, non‑conformities, or design conflicts.
- Ensure work execution follows approved work plans, methods, and standards.
Quality Assurance & Control
- Prepare and track Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), checklists, and quality documentation.
- Conduct field inspections to verify compliance with contract requirements.
- Support close‑out of non‑conformance reports and corrective action plans.
- Maintain as‑built documentation and redline drawings.
Cost Control & Procurement Support
- Assist in quantity take‑offs, material tracking, and cost forecasting.
- Support procurement activities, including technical evaluation of materials and subcontractors.
- Monitor resource usage and prepare reports for budget control.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily/weekly progress reports, engineering logs, and field records.
- Manage technical submittals, work packages, and documentation workflows.
- Maintain organized project files, ensuring traceability and audit compliance.
Interface & Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate activities between civil, MEP, systems, and subcontractor teams.
- Participate in coordination meetings and communicate technical resolutions.
- Ensure alignment between engineering deliverables and construction requirements.
