Are you passionate about protecting the environment while helping deliver one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects? Join the Geotechnical Sub Alliance (GSA) on Sizewell C and play a crucial role in shaping a sustainable future.

As part of the team preparing the ground for the next UK nuclear power station, you’ll be working with cutting‑edge techniques—piling, soil mixing, diaphragm walling—and collaborating with specialists across a truly unique engineering environment.

About the role

As an Environmental Advisor, you’ll provide hands‑on support to operational teams, ensuring activities are compliant, responsible, and environmentally sound.

Your role will include:

  • Advising on environmental compliance, mitigation, pollution control, and ecology protection
  • Developing and implementing Environmental & Sustainability Management Plans
  • Leading on waste management requirements and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Carrying out audits, inspections, and incident investigations
  • Managing environmental consents and permit applications
  • Delivering training, toolbox talks, and on‑site coaching
  • Building strong relationships with regulators, clients, and subcontractors
  • Producing reports and case studies to drive learning and performance
  • Acting as a champion for environmental excellence across the project

 

What We’re Looking For

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Environmental Science/Management/Engineering or similar
  • Level 6 Environmental Practitioner (essential)
  • WAMITAB L4, IEMA, IOSH/NEBOSH & ISO14001 audit qualifications (advantageous)
     

Experience:

  • Strong background as an Environmental Advisor
  • Experience in heavy civils or major infrastructure
  • Demonstrable waste management expertise
  • Audit experience (desirable)
     

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong understanding of environmental legislation & ecological considerations
  • Confidence managing licences, permits, and compliance processes
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and relevant reporting tools
  • Full UK driving licence
