Position – Configuration Engineer

Location – Hinkley Point C site or Satellite Delivery Centre (Bridgewater)

Arrangement – Staffed

BPSS clearance will be required at basic level. Prior clearance will not be transferable.

 

The secondee role bridges SZC and HPC, leveraging technical and operational expertise to support the MEH program. Key responsibilities include capturing lessons learned from HPC, ensuring SZC’s initial reference configuration (RC0) is based on accurate HPC deliverables, and validating data to meet SZC standards. The role also focuses on defining and improving Configuration Management processes—such as standards, procedures, and tools—while engaging stakeholders to establish and maintain configuration baselines.

Principal Accountabilities

 

  • Working collaboratively with HPC and SZC stakeholder groups, including Technical Directorate, Responsible Designer, Delivery Programmes, HPC-JDO, Nuclear Services to ensure a best for project approach to building RC0 information for use in SZC’s replication activities.
  • Developing a good understanding of the format and maturity of the HPC data set to be used as the SZC baseline to support the development of the full suite of engineering sequences required to replicate the HPC design for use at SZC. 
  • Support the management and coordination of MEH (Mechanical, Electrical, and HVAC) work-packs within the SWITCH system to ensure accurate tracking, progress reporting, and integration with project delivery.
  • Developing detailed understanding of HPC overall configuration management arrangements, in particular as they pertain to managing the transition from design configuration management to physical configuration.
  • Understanding the ‘lock and freeze’ process and its role in ensuring configuration control as HPC transitions into installation and then commissioning.
  • Define, implement and improve Configuration Management arrangements (e.g. standards, procedures, guidance, forms and tools) to ensure adequate and proportionate configuration control is established and maintained. Review and author relevant Configuration
  • Management arrangements (e.g. procedures and guidance). Oversee self-assessments of arrangements and procedures.
  •  Maintenance of the site configuration between EDR / HO3 (delivery to site) and HO4 (end of installation).
  • Resolve issues within the MEH scope post-HO3 following delivery of manufactured/fabricated equipment to site, including dimensional discrepancies and installation clashes, managing associated volume and risk.
